Damn near everything I have ever owned has been recycled or re-purposed at some point in it's existence. My avatar was rolled over on the banks of the Gila river when I found it in 1987 or so. I got it free because the farmer thought I was nuts to want it!
Wow, time does fly. I was going through some of my old posts and realized that I failed on my promise to post some finished pics of the engine in the old truck. I'll go one better and post a couple extras.
To paraphrase the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers (late 60s gilbert shelton characters).... "Parts will get ya through times of no money better than money will get ya through times of no parts!" Good job!
that is one cool ol hot rod! ...I've always been a packrat like my dad; when my brothers and I went fishin in country creeks with my dad in the 50' 60's we'd always stumble onto dumps in ravines, etc. where people used to discard all sorts of things. We never brought home many fish but we alaways brought home something; that was always fun; wish there were still these places around but everybody cleaned em up or buried em by now.
It's the stock 223 housing with a set of NOS points (more meat on those). I had to play with the plate and advance to get the right curve. The Judson is a swap meet find, I bought two from the same guy. Both of them were new. I have the instructions with an original water slide decal that I put in the rear gl*** on the driver side.
I had a '42 Continental which had lost it's original dash at some time in it's life and I had to replace the rotted out wooden dash someone had thought was an improvement. Luckily I'd been saving a '66 Nova rear bumper. Looked great but I can't find a picture on this computer of the dash. BTW this was one of the last '42s off the the line and therefore just about the youngest pre-war cars there is. I kick myself for letting that one go everytime I think about it. Ed
Amen to saving and re-using junk brother. I'm all for it. A guy can practically live for free on the stuff that gets thrown away in the town near me (The Woodlands, TX). It's not exactly the same thing but close....The Woodlands has it's own website where the locals can sell misc stuff. We've gotten almost all of the really nice stuff that's in our house from that site. Folks over there buy something at retail prices, then get tired of it immediately and then sell it at 75% or more off retail. I haven't paid retail for a big ticket item in years.
Saving stuff,.....Sounds like my Dad,.... Like yours, he never forgot the 30's depression. A lot of cool pictures...... 4TTRUK
