hoping to have it ready for the battle of midway in dec. somebody tell me they are going! check sc hambers!
Sorry to bring up and old post but I built this car! and as a matter of fact I'm getting it back this week. I traded the guy about a year ago and called him out of the blue this weekend and I'm getting it back (gohst58 are you Ricky?) here is my other car that I built after I got rid of the Galaxie, I'll be keeping both. Turbo 6 liter LS with a 4L60e
alright im going to shave the door handles, does anyone have a easy way of opening the doors? no electronics or switches, just something better than leaving the window open.
not to sure about the bottom of the doors but on my 40 ford pick up i put a set of mini bear claws in and shaved the door handle. i ran a 1/8in rod from the latch to the bottomof the doorand put a 90 degree bend on it. it is all behind the outer skin of the door. or maybe you could put the striker pin in the door and put the latch in the body and run a cable some where out side the body.
I really like the direction you've taken it so far. I'd lower the back one more inch if you can, and then do a panel paint job on the bottom with dark and light greens.
Take the latch off of the vent wing, at least on one side. Then you can push it open and reach in to open the door and still be able to close all the windows. If it has a crank on it, you have to unbolt the little regulator so the wing can be opened from the outside. It's not the most ideal way to do it (solenoids or a cable pull would be better) but it's better than leaving the window glass rolled down.
i think that is all im gonna do. nice and simple ,the only thing i have to worry about is someone stealing my 8 track!
Love this ride!!! How much was the pinstripping of the dash? Looks very cool as is.. Underdash record player would be more cool for the 59...
the dash was me and edwierd drinking beer and the idea of something watson like came up! edwierd is a genius! this is when he cheated me out of best mini bike at shady side! no he was faster!
I know you can get them from big jims in texas. They are fiberglass but they are way cheaper.. The metal ones can cost.. I like the stainless steel ones on the 59s.
the slorider now has brakes! wild bill helped me out and everything is new. 59s didnt have self adjusting brakes so we used a 64 pickup self adjuster kit from napa and it worked great! 4 drums are better than 1.
I am not a math mathetician but four drums are somewhere around 4 times better than one drum but you gotta remember to carry the one! HAHAHA
i just drooled on myself! i must know more! what are the parts im looking at? grill? rear bumper?rear lights?
happy new year 60! she is getting closer to making the road trip to see some land speed racing in the buckeye state!
I could not imagine that removing all the trim off a 59 and then replacing it with trim off another car would be a good idea.....but that white post looks good!!! and the rest of the body mods really make it pop!!! Niice!
I don't know who's 59 that is. I saw it at the Ducktail this year in Gas City, IN. It's by far one of the slickest 59's I've seen. I think the grille is a modified 54 Chevy and the rear bumper is about a 59 Chevy. Whoever it is, they were a few miles from home.
