I'm looking to install a bear claw style lock on a '30 Model A Coupe trunk lid. I haven't started yet, but am thinking about the angle if the trunk lid and the curved inner panel. Anyone have a photo of a completed setup like this ? Braces or shims needed ?

I went to a wrecking yard for mine, forgot what it came from and no pictures of it. Suggest before doing anything, get in the trunk with a light and watch the trunk close, the angles are easier to see from inside. Mine is cable operated from inside behind the seat.

Just find a latch. Than the fun starts with making brackets and lining it all up. Just take your time and you will do fine.

I found a couple of pictures but they are not of the latch setup, I cropped them to show some of it though, small pictures and no pictures of the latch mounted to the trunk lid, sorry. The brass piece shown in one of the pictures is the trunk popper I made.

Yeah, I figured I would be spending the day in the trunk. Just trying to get a jump start on brackets etc. Any more photos.

  7. I used a hood latch from a 2000 Ford Ranger for my trunk latch, works great. Mount the latch to the body and the pin to the deck lid. Real easy, cable operated. $ 5.00 with the cable.

Go with Jetta Mid Nineties model small latch & small locking post bracket for mounting to deck lid. Just picked one for my 29 roadster 12 bucks. Plan to mount the latch in trunk.

Go with a late model hood latch.most have enough spring tension in them to not need a popper just remove the safety catch
