Well, it may not be a special issue, but it is to me....Very pleased and surprised that the Thimble Drome Special is on the cover of the March issue of Street Rodder. Been a while since we had a cover and it feels good. :)

Congratulations on the cover shoot. I really dig the oil tank on the side. What's the story on the name "Thimble Drome"?

Thimble Drome was made by Cox corp.after WWII. They were tether cars and they also made small model airplane engines.

Thanks guys! From what I also understand the name Thimble Drome used by Cox also means Small Raceway.

WOW, the name really fits then. I'd love to see a real tether car built like that. Or maybe a BIG cylinder with a glow plug sitting behind the windscreen. Gorgeous ch***is by the way.

Far out. Get it professionally blown up to poster size and framed. It's a neat car and you did a great job on it. Gary

Thanks guys it's really nice to read your comments. I appreciate it.

Cruzer, I mentioned to Eric about the evolution of my Modifieds and that the one you had; The LA Special, was the one that started my love affair with modifieds. They mentioned the Ace of Spades too, which was recently shot for SRM as well, but I don't know when that feature will run.

Speed-drome or Aerodrome. Both would have been fitting for Cox's products. I wonder how many of us got our start as gearheads from messing with Cox .049 motors ?

Most exciting car I've seen in Street Rodder in quite awhile. Had to take that issue to "Happy Hour" at a buddies garage Saturday night to make sure all my fellow car club members saw it. Everybody thought it was way cool. Bet its a blast to drive. Any way you could put some build pics on here? Thanks, Harry.

Thanks Harry and everyone else! Type in Thimble Drome in the search box, there are several threads on the build. Though I have to admit I don't photo-do***ent my builds as well as many guys on do with theirs.

Congrats! You really deserve the coverage. I know how you feel, since my buddy SOTA's car and my car and avatar were also on the cover of Street Rodder (April 2010). I followed the build of your car, and love to see imagination and talent come together. Let's see another build.

Thanks again everyone. Saucer, it's because of this car that I became friends with Ed (SOTA). Extra bonus for sure!
