I have a 1954 Chevy 210. It's all original. It recently started to overheat on me. I've replaced the thermostat, I've flushed the radiator. I cleaned the radiator out very well, but it is still overheating. I'm somewhat of a novice. Any suggestions??? Thanks!........

make sure you have a 4-7 lb radiator cap that has alot to do with the cooling!

Check out your water pump, should have a weep hole, on the bottom side, usually has a small coolant leak, from this hole if the pump is bad. If the coolant is not circulating, due to a bad pump, this will cause them to overheat, also these old radiators, use a low pressure cap, as stated before.

I had the opposite problem, mine wouldn't get hot enough. I put in a new 195 deg. thermo and it runs much better now. The needle on the gauge goes to half way now, whatever that means. Half way hot? :D You could pull the thermo and see if it cools down, if it does you may have just a bad thermo, if it still gets hot then it could be something else. May want to wash the radiator fins, could have something blocking the air flow like 50+ years of junk. Good Luck

Thanks man. You're right, I did pull and clean out, it was bad. Gonna get new radiator cap and replace water pump. We'll see.
