hey gang, need some advice for my project * 1949 pontiac chieftain club coupe.(or business coupe deluxe) so far, fatman fab mark111 stub with coil overs, and a rear triangulated four link with coil overs, and the rear frame kicked in 2 inches and kicked back out to accomodate stock fuel tank, the rear tire combo is hoosier prostreet flyers 29x12.50x15 (they are actually 13.00 wide and the mods i made allow for 15 inches in the wheel house (room for serivce and access etc.) anyhoot, the front tire combo is my concern. I have almost pulled the trigger on the hoosier 28x9.50x15 in order to match the brand in the rear, and they are 27 inches in diameter, and 9.8 inches wide. my question is, does or has anyone ran these tires or does anyone have some pics of their combos I can ponder from an olds 88 or ultimately a pontiac of the same years 49"-52"? the chevy styleine deluxe has a different front fender wheel arch) the olds is simular. with the fatman fab front stub in i have the drop, but dont want that big and TOO LITTLE LOOK, (ITS DATED, IMO) and hoosier doesn't make a 215x70-15 or a 215x75-15 in the pro street version for that matter I have surfed the net and have found nice pics but no hoosier comparisons, and yes, I will blow the rubber off those flyers the powerplant is a 66 pontiac 389 punched and stroked to 445 cid w/ ebrock heads and lunati custom roller cam. please help. its so darn frustrating to have almost what ya want, but not quite there. thanks again, looking forward to any input.
oh yeah, the wheels are wheel vintiques series 62 steelies and I got some awesome 10-1/8 pop on pontiac poverty caps from 56" and 63-64 for the stealth look and attitude change, thanks
post a pic of your ride, and the work you have done. then possibly someone can photoshop it and come up with basically what you are looking for. also, ad a link to Hoosier tires that you are talking about. what kind of look are you going for? pro street?
Hey J"J" thanks for the response. no not the pro-street look, the steamroller tire days are gone.. thank god. if you search "dick and cindy long's 1950 olds 88 in rod and custom you'll see my approach, except they used bfg 275/60r15 out back and 215/70r15 up front and they look a little "swallowed up" in the fenders I guess it's a cosmetic compatability issue with me and hoosier makes that nice fat radial which is a happy median between traction and aesthetics, oh they will do a custom mold for you at $40,000 smackers! (no lie) I just want to get as close to the 30" front fender opening to look right when I adjust the ride height for the "agressive stance" if you go to "hoosiertire.com and go to the street tire pro-street flyers section and click you'll see the lack of options, it seems they are still doin the big and little stuff and I explained there is a market out there we'll see thanks for the input bud.
