Does anyone know of a good place to buy good looking $8 - $10 trophies to give away at an Early Ford V8 show. The trophy shops here in Dallas all have the same rinky dink gold plastic toppers that have been around and around. We do the show every year and do not have the time to make our own trophies (already thought of that)...there has to be maybe some place in California that has some descent looking ones...any ideas/

    Thank you,
    Guy

Don't know if its revalent, but I just bought some cub scout pinewood derby trophies from www.trophydepot.com the price was great, they let you "make" them with the different choices they have, and there was free engraving. They shipped quick too. They have several different choices.

The selection for automotive trophy figures is mighty slim. Believe me, I look every where. If you find something that isn't available to every trophy shop in the country, you can kiss your 8 to 10 dollar budget good bye. I hope someone proves me wrong. If they do p*** the information over this way.

    Have you thought about plaques?

If you do buy off line keep the shipping in mind. Fixed an order for a girl a few months back, they had screwed up the spelling of her event name. Anyway I asked her why she didn't shop local and she said she saved 75 cents on each trophy. She was feeling pretty smug about saving 15 bucks on her 20 trophies. Then I pointed out that they charged her 30 for shipping plus screwed up the spelling. They did say they would fix them for free, if she paided shipping both ways. I made her new plates for a buck a piece, cause I'm a nice guy.

There was a thread on here a week or so ago showing custom made trophies for an upcoming car show. The basis of the trophies, they were sponsored by individual car clubs, was that the throphies were built and designed using automotive parts. They were really neat "automotive art" unique and something that the recipient would love to win.

    FYI,
There are at least four real deal NHRA Wallys on ebay right now. If you REALLY wanted to give away a cool trophy, you could "re-badge" one of them, or perhaps use the statue on another custom built trophy. Gary

...how about giving them a good hand-squirt oilcan, a good pop rivit gun, some sanding discs or such, something they can actually use...

I don't know your time frame, but one of our local clubs recycles trophys from thrift stores and gifted from people tired of dusting old stuff. They redo the plaques on the front and reuse them. Then the trophy selection is not cookie cutter and quite cool! Just a thought but probably not a good idea if on a tight schedule. A picture which includes some homemade stuff. The dude behind the trophy table is the Roadburners artist, Gary Morris (2nd chance) on here, he is responsible for most of this cool array of awards. Just FYI Good Luck! ~sololobo~

.....Don't know what your time factor is???????seems to me that you can make a lot of trophies in one day(use flathead pistons and overhead valves...weld them to a metal base) Another club member and I made 36 trophies in one day for our club show........sorry I don't have any pictues of them...maybe other Hambers can post home-made trophies for ideas....all the winners sure like them over the plastic ones.

Of course nothing beats making your own, but if you must buy maybe you can hit your local trophy shop for their seconds or damaged ones. I'd be stoked to get a one-legged cheer leader trophy! If people don't find it clever and funny....**** 'em!

I have lots of vintage hot rod and drag trophies, but these two unrelated ones are a**** my favorites.

One of my favorite awrds to do is with a baby figure or the horse's rear figure on top. Make it clear that anyone who wants to whine or complain is sure to get a trophy. Makes people think twice before being a cry baby or making an *** out of theirselves.

Using a simply clear (see through ) base with an engraved tag attached ( glue, etc ) to the front of it.
Then take a "stein" or mug of your choosing with your Club name and the show and sponsors that are printed on it. The stein or mug sits on top of the base.

Its a dual type trophy that can be displayed, Or used to put your favorite beverage in. I have a couple of these, and they are great to have at events. It's Clever how I am advertising for the club while enjoying my beer.

The recent Las Vegas Convention Center part of the Sema show (Nov 3-6, 2015) was great fun. For the Car show trophies, I have checked a few of them at Trophyoutlet here:
