Help ID This Ford Dog Dish

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by runningiron, Aug 12, 2011.

  1. Ford afficionados? I have a set of Ford dog dish hubcaps that measure 10 1/4" at the inside mounting surface and are 2 3/8" high. They have a black painted stripe with the FORD letters inside the black stripe and the center comes to a dome. What year and model was this cap used on? Back in the mid 60's to early 70's, there was an aftermarket cap that looked almost identical to this one without the Ford letters. I believe they were called "Black Jack" hub caps. Do any of you elderly gents, (Old Guys Rule), remember those hub caps? I've tried searching the computer for maybe an old set to no avail. The set of caps I have are in excellent condition, beautiful chrome, no curb rash, dents, rusts. I would gladly trade these for a set of the "Black Jacks" if they were as nice as these and the same size. I need a set of no name "Black Jacks" for my Chevy daily driver. Thanks guys.

Looks like a Ford Falcon cap...... Only BIGGER!

  8. I just found an old ebay sale that identified them as 1960-1961 full-sized Ford. Marty, Yutan Flash and damageduck nailed it. Being that they were a one year only cap, would fit, as I haven't seen too many of them. Now if I could just find some "Black Jacks". Thanks guys

Almost three year old post guys...lol..Ford used the 10-1/4 dog dish up into the seventys..Later ones were in at least two height/thickness or maybe even three and sometimes used in conjunction with trim rigs...

  17. Definitely 1960 Ford dog dish. They came on all the stripped down models (minimum options). Very popular in the '60s in southern california. Very easy to "liberate" on a saturday night. Nooo, not me.
