Just looking for some ideas on painting my 56 chevy 150 im shaving all the hood ornaments off and trunk and using spotlights but i keep changing my mind on paint i was thinking of using flat/satin paint since it will be my first paint job on a car and think it would be easier the colors i had in mind 1. Flat gold with white top and maybe some black steel rims and some pinstripes 2. Like a flat blue more like a torqouise and maybe a metallic silver top or white Top. 3. flat black and a flat gold metallic top with pinstripes or possibly some scallops 4.or instead of flat paint, a gloss red white top might use 210 trim Any ideas?? For paint
Flat colors are more difficult than gloss colors. You have to have the same technique through the whole job or you will have blothes with different amounts of gloss... And you cant buff out any dirt or runs if you get them... I would start on a single stage gloss color (but stay away from light colored metallics). My 2 cents
Ive only primered my cars so i have a good idea n they told me that that flat paint would be easier not to mess up as much. I just wanted to get color opinions that would look nice
56 Chevy had a copper and white combo from the factory that looked pretty good. Put some shiny gloss paint on it. The flat and satin painted cars are just being overdone.

You got it, Sierra Gold & Adobe Beige. Here's my Pop's 56 from about 10 years ago after paint. I love this color combo on those cars, and in the sun the copper flake was really rich looking.
