Technical The 33 Ford pickup is getting a heart transplant- the birth of a flathead

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Chris, Jan 12, 2012.

  1. If I put a crank in it, then it won't be gramp's engine :)

I think the merc is going in the roadster guys. There is really no right answer, I just feel the roadster should have the best of everything. So that's the current plan, and gonna clean up the blue ford engine and get it ready for the pickup.

how coud this get better? grand dad built the flatty for the roadster (decades ago) and dad built the flatty for the truck. bitchin

  7. So cool. Hey Chris , I like those crazy sawhorse/stands your dad has. Is that motor just sitting on two of those things?

  8. Yeah, my dad built 4 of em. I have a pair and he has a pair. They are very thick and sturdy...every engine my dad has built at his home shop was done on those stands. Literally THOUSANDS of engines have sat on those things!

  9. The best of everything....Does that mean it's going to be full show? I sure hope so.

  10. It's gonna be fo sho, not full show

Nice work! Thats cool that you have 3 generations working on flatheads. What does it cost to build something like that?

Probably the best idea in the long run. FWIW, my Dad's '34 Pickup has a stock 59A in it with nothing more than dual pipes off the stock manifolds and it makes for a very nice and plenty powerful driver engine. So your "239" with the speed parts should really be nice.
