First drive for my lakes style roadster: Finally!

  1. Rex,
Do you know whether or not the Zetec has the same engine-side bellhousing bolt pattern as the Pinto/Kent 1.6 L?

    sgtlethargic,
Not really sure what the Kent/Pinto bellhousing looks like but if it is the same as the old Ford/Pinto/Small pickup 2.3 single cammer the answer is no. Before I found the adapter from Quad 4 Rods I was considering using the 2.3 bell housing as the dowels line up correctly and this centers the pilot bore for the tranny but only a few of the bolt holes really line up well and I was going to have to do some heavy mods plus I think I would have had to make a complete new starter mount in the bell housing. The adapter from Quad 4 was a much better deal.

That really looks great. The stance and tires all look real nice. We have talked before, I am building my own modified now and will start a build thread soon. I have a real nice 31 closed car cowl with no windshield posts. I was thinking of buying a Brookville rear cab section for their 30 RPU. The price is 875.00. I would still need to fab doors and rocker panels and some kind of floor. Did you scratch build that body? Do you have any better body pics? I am putting a 292 y block in mine with three spd standard, 40 rear, drums all around and 35 wheels. You should be very pleased with your ride....a lot of work!

    Sumfuncomet,
My body is made from Brookville body skins, I built all of the support frames from 1" and 3/4" square tubing. I also built the door frames. The cowl is from Brookville also and I narrowed it 3 inches, the rear 1/4 panels are Brookville that I lengthen 6 inches on the top and 2 at the bottom. I scratch built the rear panel that goes across the back of the cab. I have attached a couple of body pics to show some of the mods.

Rex, Really like the look of your car. It has a very agressive stance but it just looks mean ! Love the details and the intake and header.
My '29 RPU/Lakester is based on a prototype body that was given to me. It is not perfect but the price was right. My body is extended for leg room. Frame is from Riley Auto Parts and is the "A" Double Z. Mild Z in front and 8 inch Z in the rear. Front axle is a '41 Ford with holes drilled in the web with hairpins. Rear axle is a '41 Ford converted to open drive. Drivetrain is Ford 2.3 with five speed overdrive trans.
Body will be converted back to actual roadster parts - W/S posts and w/s frame.

Hope mine turns out as neat as yours.

Nice job! The first drive all ways feels great. All the planning and thinking finally come together.
