My Dad found these somewhere. They're bacically flexable grinding disks with holes in them. They work great because you can see exactly what you're grinding while your grinding it. the first pic is with the grinder off, the second is with the grinder on(obviously). they also come in Scotch Brite for paint, rust, gasket, and scale removal.

I've used them for awhile now, and I've never had it happen. It doesn't seem to catch any more than a regular grinding disk does. I suppose it could happen though. They also have a backing disk with the same holes it it to add some rigidity.

I've had enough normal disks fly apart to be scared of that.....I've butchered my knuckles enough already....

I like being able to cut mine down as they wear too, you couldn't do that with those I wouldn't think.

Those look like the discs made by RotoZip. As Fatabone said you can get them at Sears. They do flex more than a solid disc. I only like using them for small areas.

wood carvers have used a similar deal for years to sharpen their chisels. a bench mounted grinder with the wheel mounted horizontal. slots in the thin wheel. you hold the chisel under the wheel as you're sharpening and you can see exactly what's goin' on with the chisel.

The sears in my area discontinued these things..

and I bought every one they had..
i EVEN talked tokyo into buying up all the ones that were avalible at the neighboring sears.. (i prolly have 150.00 wrapped up in these things)

they arent as great as I thought they would be.. BUT I am a pretty aggressive grinder.. I have had several catch and fly apart..
however.. at a price of 3 for a buck how could I have gone wrong?

I certainly wouldnt pay 5 bucks for 3 (that was the regular price)
