Got my 2 dr. parts and couldn't resist building a sail panel to see what it would look like as a modified, now I can't decide which way I like it best. I may just build it so I can switch from modified to roadster by bolting the back on. Here's some more pics.
Well I guess modifieds are just in my blood, after wasting several days working on the quarter panel I got the 2dr. parts and threw together a modified back section. Got it all roughed in today and love it just need to do some more welding and dolly work but it is the way I'm going. Now I can concentrate on getting this thing going.
Got a little blitz black on it today but still have work to do on the other side. Back section has stuff from a '32 phaeton, 2 dr. sedan and a Fordson tractor but hey it's all Henry.
Thanks Dale, yes it should look familiar it's very very close except this one has leg room. I wish I had the flattie that's in yours though, this one has a stock 21 stud. Did you have a build thread on the top you did for yours ? I'm thinking of trying to build a top for it and really like the one you did.
I LOVE the wheels and tires. The body looks like it's coming along well... the Ford stamped piece is a nice touch, too.
Mike, the modified looks great! Any chance those quarters will be for sale (hint, hint)?! I've got a roached Fordor that could use them for a 5W conversion - I have a pair of off brand quarters that would probably work but need some serious redesign of the beads and overall shape. Steve
Thanks for the comments, haven't done anything lately. It is funny how you sometimes buy stuff for one purpose and end up using for something totally different like the Fordson gas tank that stamping came from. I need a male thread gas cap for the old 10 gal. Moon tank if anyone has one kicking around.
Forgot I even had this thread on here. Here's a little update, sold the 18" tires and wheels and saving my pennies from selling stuff to buy a set of 16" dirt trackers for it. Man those things have gotten pricey. Bought a one piece louvered hood for it and found a set of really nice Kelseys for the front and bought some artillery wheels at Hershey for the back that I took and got powder coated here's a pic. of them. Can't wait to get the tires and get them mounted to see how much different it will look.
Sorry I know these pics. suck but I got my stones mounted and on the car and spent all day moving stuff around to get the mod back out where I can work on it again. Two hot rods and a winter wood supply in a 1 1/2 stall garage makes for some interesting situations, I couldn't push the mod out to switch them because I can't push it back in by myself anymore. So tight I had to pull off one of the front drums on the mod to get the coupe by it. Here's some pics. bad as they are.
I didn't know you had a Coupe, need to catch up on your build thread. Black wheels look great IMO. Glad I'm not the only one with a packed garage. Merry Christmas! Bob
Bob, Thanks, I bought the coupe this summer because I was sick of just working in the garage and never having anything to drive to the local shows. I'm over that now and ready to get back on the mod. My big fear is now someone will want to buy the coupe now that it's packed into the back corner. Sorry I missed you at Hershey this year it was such a blur I don't even remember seeing the banner. Merry Christmas, Mike
My '12 T is stuffed in the back corner of my garage, have to get it out for its 100 Birthday. It was built in April, I always think of it rolling off the line around the time the Titanic sank.
Thanks Andy and Dale, here's a little hint of what else is coming, it's funny I never planned on anything this fancy going on this but sometimes shit just happens.
Can't wait to get the heads and intake on it but I'm probably going to have to do some hood modifications. I'll really be eager for spring to get here this year, gotta get it outside for some good pics. the tire and wheel change made a huge difference. Right now I can't turn around in the garage gotta burn some wood so I have some work space. Thanks for the nice comments guys, this ain't everybody's cup of tea.
Had to move it out to get the coupe out so I took a couple shots with the new tires and wheels on it.
What's up with the quickchange? Is that an old Homade unit where they flip it upside down and mill out a hole? It's very cool. I wanted one of those for my '33 since I'm shooting for a time period before Halibrand was casting theirs. Looking good!
