Well guys, Here is a brief intro to my ol' '57 F-100 Panel Truck. It was bought new at Snow Ford in '57 and hauled beer from San Berardino Ca to Lenwood Ca until I purchased it in '75. At the time it had wide off road tires and the previous owner used out in loose sand up in the Barstow Ca area. It had a 223 six with 3 spd ******. When I got it I put several thousands of miles on it. A friend and I even drove it back to my home town of Malone NY and back. It was a great adventure. Bad times happened in '82. A semi truck ran over the front of the bumper and it has been parked ever since. Oh, The Beer Wagon used to haul Schlitz, the Beer that made Milwaukee famous (or something like that). Dave
I agree! That's worth a restoration in itself. I have a '55 F 100 Panel. I was hoping some careful sanding would reveal some clue to it's past as far as door lettering. No such luck. Have fun with the project and adding to it's history.
Tim, Yah the ol' Beer Wagon will be seeing the roads of Ca sometime later in the year. Don't be disappointed, I am pulling the 223/3 spd out. It will be replaced with a 460/C-6. Looking to rearc the springs and maybe run spacers to lift up about 1 1/2 inches. Will be saving my funds to get aset of new off road tire. Other than that detail fire wall, inner fender and repaint the rims. Hope to have it running by Oct. Dave
Chris, I have missed my ol' Beer Wagon. It has been almost thirty years she has been off of the road. I hope I can do her justice. Need to talk to my buddy who is a striper and see if we can make patterns of the old paint job. I hope we can recover most of it. May lightly sand off the white primer to see what I can save. Dave
That's cool Dave. Can't wait to see it go back together. '57 Ford's are one of my favorite trucks. Keep the pictures coming.
Hey man, Thanks so much for your kind words. Hope to get her pulled out of the "weeds" and start some work to make room for the 460/C-6. Hope I canget some muscle help in the next weekend or so. Dave
Scott, Will be kind of slow until I get the 223 out. The 460/C-6 is buried under some parts in the garage (don't ask). Once the mill/****** is in, it will be in my hands. I have two of the factory tanks and I intend to have them cleaned by a radiator shop. Then I can have dual tanks (one on each side. Need to staigthen the right front frame horn (courtesy of a semi in a hurry to get home). Will probably be doing some rattle can restoration (thanks "LowKat !). Inner fenders, Front fender brace and firewall will be first on the "restoration" list. Will be doing some swap meetin' to get funds for my new set of off road tires (preferably like my old Tru Tracs by Armstrong). Also need to save up for new radiator. Wheels are either 8 inch or 10 inch wide. Have a customized front splash pan and hood (stay tuned). Dave
Derek, How's your Falcon coming along ? Hope I can get my Beer Wagon back on the road this year. Anyone up to pushing it out of the weeds ? Going to be doing some swap meets to fund tires and a new radiator. Dave
dave good score not to many panels aroud. i used a rad from a 90s explorer, fits and works well in my 57/429/c6
Hey Canada ! Did you have to modify the radiator brace very much. If I use a stock radiator I have the swap the side mounts to the six banger config. Rad then just drops right in with stock hardware. Your '57 sure is a low slung beauty. I have a '57 Big Window mounted on a '71 T-Bird ch***is (actually just mocked up). Sure would make a comfortable driver - but not much of a truck. It will handle any motor/trans Ford ever made. Dave
dave heres a couple pics of explorer rad.its a fair amout of work to install. the stock rad would be easier but would it cool?
Gilles, Engine bay is looking very clean. Engine is turned out real nice in Ford blue. All in all real clean F-100. Dave
Gilles, Love the pix of your radiator installation. Could you send me any info on how the radiator brace was modified ? Dave
