  2. I like the look, and I'm not a purest by no means, but I just don't get the whole SBC thing. Its not like its the only small block built, I guess its a cost.

Nice lines anyway, make someone a nice ride.

Its lookin' real cheap but who knows what the reserve is.

I'm no purist either but I agree on the sbc. i'll be running the original flathead six with some hopup parts in mine. If I want more go, later on i may do a mopar 440 swap into it.

I'd prefer the chevy over the mopar motor, but I don't understand the rear floor or the seating position. It looks bad *** but the floor just kills me.

When I was 12 years old (I'm 57 now ),there was a guy at our local garage that had a primered 46 Plymouth mordoor with black wheels, wide whites and a hopped up DeSoto six with split exhaust that came out in front of the rear wheels. That car was my first experience with hotrods other than in magazines.

  6. Unless you're dead you'll want more zot. But you gotta start where you are, I always try for the most I can swing, then build it bigger either when it breaks or I get bored whichever comes first.

I'm not a big inline fan but I've seen some that were way more than respectable. And ya gotta love a hopped up flattie whatever it is.

they way i look at is if i'm trying to move anywhere fast in the plymouth, i probably shouldn't be driving it there anyway. I just want to cruise for now. although i know that won't last for long.

I think that was the easiest way to avoid having to weld the floor up the way it should have been done. less seams. i dunno, it might be unique enough to be cool depending on how you finish the interior.

    I'm not quite dead yet...

I just did the maiden road trip in my '50 Plymouth with it's hopped up 230 flathead six with a '55 Dodge overdrive. I drove the car 584 miles round trip, through every kind of weather, every kind of road condition including construction that amounted to a jeep trail, over an 8500 foot mountain p*** with 18 miles of 10% grades, city traffic, and freeway speeds. Not once did keeping up with traffic cross my mind, in fact, I wanted to go faster on the freeway than my friends were willing to go in their chevy 350 powered street rods...

I couldn't be happier with the way the car handled the trip. Of course it doesn't have neck snapping acceleration, but that isn't what I built the car for, so no concern. The car accelerates easily to p*** on the highway, and never lacks for power to climb hills. I wouldn't change a thing if I had to do it again.

    Pete

I'm with ya on this one. The car is cool and I don't think it's going to bring more than $1500 realistically and it's got way more than that, and a lot of work, in it. The floors need to be redone in a bad way. Still, it's a good start to a cool car and can probably be had right if the owner is realistic.

yeah, i like the 55 gallon drum transmission hump and firewall...
    huh?
    run out of sheet steel?

  18. It was built for a drummer, you upholster the entire rear floor and have lots of room for band equipment. the just haven't got around to the shelves yet. :D

Oh, and sorry about the hurt toes with the more zot remark. I've been eat up with going faster since I was too young to remember.

I still think the old sedan has a lot of potential.

somehow i think you're right. i still think the car is cool. it'd be a good jump off point to work with. all the hard "make it look good" stuff is already done. a little plumbing is all it needs to move. the floor is just if you want to fix it. (and i'd personally would want to fix it). don't let us discourage you from bidding though. i'm sure alot of people are probably watching it. maybe some more now. sorry.

The drum was used w/ ingenuity. got to love it....When its painted, who will know.

The rest of the floor should be redone to accomdate a rear seat...what's the point of a more-door if you cant get back in there to sit.?

I like it, especially the stance...too bad its far away.

The car has a nice look to it but they went about getting it the wrong way. Channeling a car is the wrong way to lower a car. Look at all the lost floor space. To lower a car it's best to do it with suspension. I would also bet the front wheels can't turn. Looks like they are too close to the fender.

Mopar in a Mopar is fine. But........mopar put the starter on the wrong side. It gets in the way of everything (steering/exhaust) I'm not picking on Mopars Nailheads are the same way and just as much a pain in the ***.

I was just teasin' I might bid if it doesn't get up there to high.
The floor would definitly need to be reworked. Also Clarks partially right about that channel job. I don't think it was well thought out and would need to be reversed a bit. Then throw some adjustable suspension under it.
The car has potential though. I'm sure the sbc is just a convienance thing.

That would be a cool ride, but I agree with Clark they should have done the suspension instead. I don't like how the steering column is halfway up the dash.

40mopar, do you have any pics of your plymouth? I am currently trying to start on my 40 dodge tudor sedan. later shawn

  27. The rear floor is really nothing, just make a couple of divots in it and throw a pair of buckets in there, a full length console to cover up the ugly and you're halfway there.

it doesn't look like much right now. i'll post some pics when i can find my camera. i'm currently working on brakes. it's been at my rental property for right at a year and i hadn't touched it for 6 months prior to that...needless to say i've got some catching up to do.

most of the hard work has been done. the owner prior to me was in the middle of a mild restoration when he hurt himself and couldn't finish the car. he'd already rebuilt the motor and gone through the ******. it should be pretty cool when i'm done. hope to try to make the nats this year in louisville. we'll see (fingers crossed). luckily i've got some good resources here in middle tennessee. a couple of guys i met really know their old mopar stuff. don coatney lurks around the hamb and has really done a good job on his "big" flathead six. inspiration for me.

I think it could make a cool car. About the rear seat, you could just cut the floor behind the front seats and make a step up so that its level from at least the back of the front seat to the back of the rear seat.

here's a pic of mine. It's getting a sbc because it came with the car and the rule of hot rodding is to use what ya got :D. Not bad car for only $100. later shawn
