so i know you "should" stick with metal to metal...gl*** to gl***...and no more than a 1/16 or so on bondo....but what about this metal putty stuff like "magnum" you see at the auto parts store...anyone ever used it to round out crease's....seems like it could work...sand-able,paint-able.....just curious
Lots of good info in the search. Many folks (myself included) like Evercoat products like Rage and Rage Gold. Do some reading and you will get a good idea.
I read that metal to metal makes no significant improvement over straight body filler ... I guess the internet is full of opposing opinions. I dont know about Magnum.
From the http://www.roadsters.com/filler/: Concerning thickness, 1/8 of an inch is usually no problem for filling. I've seen some really thick sculpting in my day. Building up an area in layers of 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch will work. The thicker the filler, the greater the chance of having problems down the road. I have seen cars with filler over two inches thick that lasted for years, and some custom cars have had areas that were done even thicker. Two-plus inches thick - that's awesome!
I order my Rage Gold (click me) through Summit Racing's website - lowest price I have found even with shipping. If someone else can better their price - do tell. Cheers,
