I got the plans off E-Bay, the guy even sells the hard to make time consuming parts........ http://www.ebay.com/itm/CR-300-3-00..._Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr&hash=item1c22b19946 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROTISSERIE-..._Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a48c68772
i have blueprints for one that uses two engine stands with a few modifications. seems to work well in concept.
I built this rotisserie back in '08. It cost me about $500 then (all new steel, jacks, casters, etc) and a weekend with the chop saw and welder. Once it was balanced, I could easily spin the body around by myself. I designed it to hold my very large and heavy '62 Monterey Wagon. I have full plans that I can send you. Just PM me your e-mail address.
thats a nice looking rotisserie , i appreciate the offers on the blue prints, but im really kinda wanting to just buy one. i dont want to take the time off my projects right now ? thanks though
Bodyman. I bought a Autotwirler at Back to the Fifties in Minnesota. We've had a 70 Chevelle and a 70 Chevy Suburban on it, and soon a 53 Studebaker. All balanced fine. It has hydraulic jacks on both ends. www.autotwirler.com they are in Gosport, In. 821-879-5457 Hope this helps, Steve
I built mine, it's much, much simpler and cheaper than the one FrozenMerc did, but as a result somewhat more difficult to adapt to different vehicles - I end up welding together new end-pieces for every different type of vehicle I put on it. I'd love to have something as good as his, but it'd end up competing for storage space with everything else around here when not in use. As others have noted, any rotisserie is light-years better than no rotisserie.
I bought an autotwirler. Very beefy unit. Nicely built. It'll get you going right away without having to build one.
I have this one without the big tires or jack option. I wish I had both...but I bought mine used. I like it though. http://www.prorollers.com/?page_id=484 and its made in Texas
A company that is in Tenn., that advertises in Hemmings, makes many body shop "big tools", their rotisserie starts at $895.00, it's on my buying radar.
I built my own, first because I'm cheap but second because I work alone most of the time and I need to be able to get the car up on it by myself. I incorporated hand winches at each end to raise the car off the ground to the height I need to rotate it. HF worm gear winches and the wheel at the top is a power gate roller.
