Well guys here's what I do to get the tension off or replace ***, well maybe not that but its sure fun, you are looking at some scale model wire wheels that I do for everone all over the world, 1/8 scale to 1/4 scale steel, aluminum or br*** or what ever.Enjoy. Chris 209-743-5596
Nice stuff man. What would a set of the early Ford style wires be worth? If you do them in !/8th! geoff akaWhodaky
That's rad. Do you just turn the rims up in one piece? its hard to rell in the photo? How long does one wheel take?
if you ran high test in that motor it wouldn't blue the pipes. that is pretty killer. Man that has to be a mother to put together.
Very nice work. Take a look at this site for some more amazing models: http://homepage.mac.com/gawingrove/Wingrove-Collection/Menu30.html
Well guys thanks for all the kind words and such, I will try and answere all the questions. First off I started building these on a need b***is being there was a need , this all started about 18 years ago,It took me a year to get it down and able to work instead of think. The first one with the rubber tire on the dime is a Monogram big deuce tire and the wheel is a dead on scale model of the Baronni wire wheel which has 72 spokes and the most unorthadox laceing pattern I have run into yet. That one is in 1/8 scale. Then we have the large one with a white tire that is a 40 spoke wheel and done to 1/4 scale, interestingly I used a babybuggy tire and wheel and just br***ed the old holes and re-indexed new ones. Then there is the shot of the two big wheels and four small ones,The big ones are 1/6 scale and the others are 1/8 scale all are 48 spoke, the large one in the rear has a special hub which ws for a 1929 Miller front drive in 1/6 scale. The one with the fat tire is in fact a ash tray tire and is in 1/6 scale for a 1/6 scale sprint car.The model is of the famouse Ted Horn Car Baby and was built by my friend Kieth Ward, I did the wheels for him, what a killer car it is.Then the pair sitting stacked are both in 1/6 sale the set on the right is made of steel and is fr a 1939 worlds fair model of a 1932 E*** coupe. Over all the wheels take about 4hrs per set and are priced about 350.00 to 550.00 depending on what you want. The rims are cut from round tubbing and the hubs are from solid round stock, I use drilling fixtures and a dividing head and its all done on a manuel mill and lathe Hope that covers everyones questions and comments. Thanks for letting me share them with you. Chris
You know I tried your advice and I looks at pictures of the wheels, then pictuers of Carmen Electra. The pics or Carmen worked alot better. Seriously, cool wheels though
Those wheels are beautiful-great work. The things is, you could maybe get and afford a set of these wheels-you ain't gonna get Carmen.
Man- thats the coolest ****in thing I saw today! on a serious note,I think you'd do well having *** with midgets......
*** with midgets would be just plain fun , Carmen would be a dream, building scale wire wheels is just plain reality, But *** always take top priority.I always say if you build something out of nothing you are a step ahead of the next guy , anybody can have ***. Chris
Do you have any photos of the tools/process? Like a tech? I'm pretty curious how exactly you do that. Incredible work.
