I had them on my Flathead powered 26 T modified but it was to Quiet so i cut them off and now have straight pipes. My dad has them on his 350 powered 40 sedan and they sound real nice. I also have them on my 32 sedan thats in mock up stage so I cant wait to hear what the warmed up 327 sounds like.

  6. We appreciate you using our mufflers and you'll love the sound of the Original Hot Rod muffler ~ but it's Smithy's, not smitty's :D

i had them on my shoebox with a flathead for about two years before the end blew out.i think they were far too quiet.i heard of guys fillin them with lighter fluid and burning them out before install to make them louder, but i've never tried it. cheap cherry bombs sound better.

They sound good on small blocks, but on flatheads and inlines theyre wayy too quiet IMO. I had one on my poncho straight 8 and i couldnt hear a thing, so i did a straight pipe out the back and it sounded good.

but with a v8 with higher compression and power, smithys sounds great, quiet until you get on it.

I had a set on my SBC powered '40 Ford pickup, I liked them a lot. Matter of fact I have another pair waiting in the wings for my '55 Caddy.

BTW there are several good vids on Youtube...

Got them on my Flathead 40 and love them!

  18. But it sounds like Smitty's when you here someone talking about them.

Sometimes it is hard to capture the real song of a conversation in text. ;)

Got 'em on my chevy - 216 w/headers - can't beat 'em in my opinion. I understand the spelling, but they have always (where I come from in the NW), been called 'smittys'.

  22. It is probably what they called ol man smith when he was still making them. ;)

I guess if I made mufflers they would have called them Benno's instead of zoomers or whatever other class name I could have come up with. :D:D

Might as well throw my 2 cents in! CHERRYBOMB has 32 different configurations of glass packs and also just released a "TRADITIONAL HOT ROD MUFFLER." Check it out at CHERRYBOMB.com
