My son is running a 235 fenton headers to lake pipes.. Too noisy to me.. Cant carry on a conversation while crusing down the road.. Sounds good around town but out on the road???

Ideally I'd like to add lakes pipes that I can uncap for relaxing drives through PriusVille.

    Nice Buy.
What trans is in that?, I see L and D on the colume shifter
I thought the powerglide came out in 54.

    Thanks MrC.

  6. When you add a alternator I would highly suggest you go with a GM SI alternator. Shoot me a pm and I'll give you some info. Todd

I have a 52 that I am starting. Already had the fenton exhaust manifold to steel packs. Sounds Great. Nice rapp to it when you get on it and mellows at crusing speed. For 3k you did well. I am planning on running a corvette grill insert. 52' grill items for me have been hard to find. Also for the price stock bumpers from Chevofthe40's see to be reasonable. Good luck. I too am just hoping for a cool cruiser, mild tail dragger stance.

It is a Powerglide on a 235. They were out in 50.

  10. Straight lakes pipes sound like ASS. Run a dual exhaust out the back.
1-3/4" tubing. Use a short glass pack as far forwrd as possible. YOU WILL LIKE IT!!!

Getting ready to chop, nose and deck (and do the lower quarters and rockers). It's always amazing to me how often the lines of a car really start to pop when you remove the trim that's supposed to accentuate them, but actually does just the opposite. The wrong pinstriping or scallops can have the same negative affect..Just my opinion

Nice find! Good solid '50 models of any vehicle are rare. Good luck with your project. I love to find them, rebuild them as a six and then take them to a Car Show and put them in the Corral. I've never been disappointed yet. This one is getting a later 235 with some redone internals. It will couple up to a T-5 and an open drive line.

I've givin myself enough rust snotrockets grinding the floors and stuff the last few days. Had to take a break and make somethin' purdy today. Needed a rare shot of instant gratification.

Starting to lay out the chop. I'm thinkin' 3.5" in front flowing to around 5" in back. We are gonna start out somewhat on the conservative side. You can always take more out...not so much for putting it back in.

Yeah I'm a little late to this party. That's a beautiful car and for the price that's an awesome deal. Great score. I have the same set-up, 235 and powerglide. I went with the tube headers to save the $100 you mentioned and ran them into a merge collector 2 into 1. 2" from the headers to a single 3" into a flowmaster 40 series out to the bumper. She has a unique sound of her own. I built the exhaust system from aluminized tubing. There are some pictures in my album.

I don't think you'll get the taildragger stance with out one notching the frame and two without cutting the driveshaft tunnel. I lowered the back of mine about 5" with the 3" blocks and removing a couple leaves, had to add one back because those old leaves were completely straight, I need new ones. This is as low as I can go without cutting the tunnel, it touch now. I'll get to cutting it one day. I also lowered the front by cutting 2 rings out of the coils and stepping the a-arms, a total of about 5" up front also. Pictures of this is also in my album.

Anyway, great looking car, I'll be watching this build. Good Luck.

Cherrybomb offers 33 different configurations of glass packs, so keep us in mind when you are ready for them. Also you may have trouble finding a shifter for your cast iron powerglide. Make sure you specify you have the cast iron version before ordering a shifter. Looks good and can't wait to see it on the ground.
