I'm no painter by any stretch of the imagination. I wish I had the money to had scallops done but I'm still pleased with the outcome for the most part. For those who don't know: '60 Chevy Impala 4-door 283 V-8 2 speed powerglide tranny older-style Coker white walls original interior original 83,000 miles Basically kept the original white but with a hint of pearl in it. Top and side inserts are candy turquoise metalflake using both silver and gold metalflake. BEFORE: AFTER:
tail lights are 4" round and I love the bastard children of traditional/kustoms.....4-drs, wagons, etc. I almost bought my buddy Randy's '58 AMC Rambler Wagon before the Impala. It looks really nice now. I figure this will tide me over till I get a T-bucket
I was just playing around a bit. I wondered what it would look like if the roof wrapped around and you did away with that little quarter window.
hey mate, the HAMB is so over run will killer customs that its easy to take them all for granted sometimes... but your ride really came out killer. Not a radical paint job but super sano, understated... really stands out by its restraint and killer execution. well done! danny
i think it looks better with the quarter window.. but maybe, the door pillar is slanted forward and curves into the top door trim...? sweet car though. i love your roof... aloha, matt
looks better with the quarter window. i personally like separation on a paint scheme like that. great call on the turqoise, splendid combo i must say.
I've got a 4 door 60 Buick Lesabre......Your car looks killer, no need to do anything else!!!Well done.
That thing is real nice. Id hate to ask, but how much did you pay for that and how much prep work did you do yourelf. Im trying to find a ballpark range on what Its going to cost me for my paint.
to answer some questions: my buddy Jeff (currently of Exiles Indy C.C.) has a shop in Lebanon, IN. It used to be Savage Auto Collision but now specializes in restorations and has recently made the transition. Most of his work is on referral basis. Most of you have seen his truck at one point or another. As for cost, well, let's just say that I got a friend discount. However, for insurance purposes, the full quote of nearly $4k was put down for labor and materials. The only real disappointment is the pinstriping. It's not what I really wanted. I have a couple others I would've picked but he came highly recommended from the shop and was local. I should have waited and got what I really wanted.
