Howdy gentlemen I Am getting ready to pull the blue bomber into the garage for some much needed attention and the most important issue to address is the brakes on this car. I have 4 lug hubs 4 wheel non power drums and I would like to go to a disc brake of some kind. I was wondering if there is another gm platform that I could take the whole spindle assembly off that will swap over. 70's monte carlo some? pick up? cutlass? Boneyards have become scarce around my house and before i take the 3+ hour pilgrimage out to PA to find something that will work I figured i would ask the experts. Any and all help is Always greatly appreciated. Thank you fellas, also any good boneyards tips for hunting in the northeast are dutifully noted

OK So I have done a little research and it seems if i want to keep my same lug pattern that the ford maverick and granada cary the 4x4 1/2 bolt pattern and had disc brakes. anyone else know of any car that did the same that i might be able to steal the spindles off of? the buick has a really small spindle and the steering gear is on the back side so stealing spindles off of a truck is out as far as i know. I really need to find a good pick and pull near here that still has old cars....

Go to this web site (http://www.scarebird.com/) They have a Disc brake bracket and a parts list that can help you. This is the only brake conversion I have seen. The other thing is join the Yahoo group (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/skylark616263/)
They are very active and are a good resource for these cars. They can help you with most anything. Good luck and keep in touch.

just email me, m@scarebird.com - can send the install guide. We can make it 5 lug if desired with different hubs.
