History Some cars I encounter at work (pictures)

I snapped these quick while I had a moment at work the other day. I need to get some more of the rest of the collection but I figured here more than anywhere they would be appreciated. If you want any more info on them I will do my best to get it but for now enjoy some odd ball cars you won't see everyday.

Nice collection. Reminds me of the first job I had. Back in the 80s I worked at a dealership and the owner had a buttload of cars stashed away. Problem was he didnt maintain them. They were just sitting in dirt floor barns

 

I love the "non skid" tires on the first car!! I remember when i was 15 my parents took me to DC & almost all the cars at Smithsonian had them.

The last pic is a typo...it's a '39, not a '49 Cadillac.

 

Wow, my personal favorite too! Is this some kind of coach built one-off? Love the suicide doors and quarter panels. Imagine what it would look like without running boards....hmm.

 

I am a steamfitter B designates I do more service/maintenance than installation work. My specific company does commercial building maintenance and building automation system controls Pneumatic/DDC type stuff.

The cars are part of the Rockefeller collection at Kykuit in Tarrytown NY.

You got it, custom coach built in France i believe. Was commissioned by Henry Ford for Mr. Rockefeller flathead V8 3spd and custom interior outfitted at the lincoln factory to meet super elegant standards. I believe the purchase force was in the neighborhood of $1700

I grew up in Yonkers & lived in Irvington for awhile & never knew that these cars were up there!Are they at the same place that has the " White" deer?

Im about 5 miles from there on Noxon...

Its pretty cool, id rather be working on the cool stuff rather than the retrofitted HVAC and building controls but at least i get to see the stuff

I've heard that story about the deer before but never seen it. can't confirm thats the property or if it is at stone barns up the street or what. But i saw a buck there last week that was one of the biggest I've ever seen i counted 10pts but I'm half blind and i was a hell of a distance away. Beautiful deer.

Small world.....the curator of that museum bought one of my vintage BMW motorcycles. I delivered it to him and got a tour. Very cool stuff there.

 

yes not all year though, they give guided tours of the property starting in sleepy hollow. take the train up from NYC its a cool day

You won't see another either, it was custom commissioned for Mr. Rockerfeller by Ford. I will snap a pic of the info card next time I'm over there, as well as the info cards for the other cars and pics of the others.
