To tose with more knowlege than I.
    I am doing a 28 roadster with a 409.
When I bought the block, tore it down, and tanked what needed to be tanked it was discovered that the oil pan is solid brss, not plated.
Question is does anybody have any info if this might be a GM Factory pan and what application might it be for, my guess is marine.
All I can tell ya is that it is a truck block.
    Any info will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

That was a factory marine pan. We made them in Plt 8 in Chevrolet's old mfg plant "down in the hole" in Flint.

You guys are outstanding and thanks for the response and advice.
I will try for some photos but I am better at putting cars together that working on the net!
The pan is in real nice shape and will get polished as one suggested, it'll be a shame to hang it on the wall though, maybe-just maybe the rdstr?
I'm reasonably new to the HAMB so thanks again.
