Wiring a 29 with a gm headlight and dimmer switch. My headlight bright indicator on the dash is lit whether I have the brights on or not. The indicator lead is coming straight from the brights connector on the dimmer switch.

Any suggestions as to why it is lit up. I have gone through and all seems fine, what am I missing

    Thanks

You have it wired to the wrong terminal. The indicator light should be wired to the high beam terminal on the dimmer switch. Then it will only come on when the high beam side is activated. Good luck

If it is in fact connected to the correct terminal on the dimmer switch, you may have a bad ground on dash panel and it is back grounding through the indicator light and the high beam filaments. The indicator would likely be dim in this case.

Unplug the headlights and see if it stays on. A bad headlight ground could cause the problem.

I know its wired correctly to the dimmer switch. I will try unplugging the headlights when I get back on it tuesday night. Then check the ground. I sanded the metal at the ground locations. thanks

Check that the headlight plugs are wired correctly also.

    voltage + light+ ground = lit-light
voltage + switch + light + ground = option of interrupted circuit
    always voltage = always lit
