What is it from? If you can take it apart and fit it in a few bicycle cartons I think Greyhound Experss is the cheap way to go. Only down side to that is not everyone lives near a depot.

  3. got a bench shipped through greyhound, the rear top part was taken apart and laid on the top, then it was all shrink wrapped together and cardboard added to the major area that might get scratched, cost about 100.00 but I got all original seat covers on original seats now.

I had one shipped to me Greyhound to save money. It came in a couple days to the "local" Greyhound Station (last minute choice of the shipper). When I called the phone # provided buy the shipper the "station" turned out to be a BP/DQ gas store. I thought it was supposed to go to the "real" station depot downtown but the local town was even "cheaper" -- I called round the clock speaking with various gas station attendants speaking broken English or a dialect thereof. When it arrived I went to pick it up and it was sitting outside the store next to the ice machine, real secure-like.

I've used Greyhound many times, never a problem.

X2, I shipped a seat that way on Greyhound. It was only the springs, I tie wired them together and wrapped them in cardboard. $80 or so.
