Long time lurker. Finally bought a 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe sedan last summer and finally able to spend some money and time getting her ready to roll.

Due to a wedding, holidays and birthdays, she's had to sit and wait. Now that all of that is over with, I'm rebuilding the brakes, carburetor and installing a new fuel pump.

One thing that I've found so far is the transmission appears to be locked up in neutral. It has the vacuum ***ist shifting, but the bellows is torn to shreds. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to go into any gear. Is this a common problem? Anyone have a line on a service manual for the trans or site detailing the inner workings of it?

I spent a few minutes with some over the counter wax and an orbital and brought the hood back to life. I think I'm going to keep the paint!
