Thinking of gettin load adjusting shocks for back of 41 chevy coupe. Put new leaf springs on the car. (3" drop springs from St. Louis spring) With the shackles down, the ride height is about 16" between mounting points. With the shackles up the ride height drops to about 13". looking at load adjusting shocks to accomodate. Looking at Monroe sensatrac. Not sure which ones to get though. any suggestions. Monroes? Edelbrock? Bilstein? Want to use load adjusting or coil overs to help the leafs a little. Anyone used these on similiar car with any luck. Or should I just use typical shock and forget the coil spring?
Well I think I answered my own question. Was having trouble with the end types on the shocks matching up with what I needed. Well just an fyi, if you are looking for a metal sleeved "loop" connection on one end like I was, you might check out loop type end and then they give you the metal insert. Here is the tricky part, they don't tell you they are giving you the inserts, nor do they list them in the end type. Mine was Part # 31000 (Monroe) or 94008 (Napa). 5/8" loop on either end with 1/2" inserts. I needed the 1/2" insert on top. Ended up going with the non coilover shocks.
put a set on my 66 tbird, they tend to be tail draggers. brought it right up pleased with results. someday will put new springs under it . but for now helper shocks working fine
