    The son was OK...He's a roofer and likes his beer. More than once he told his mom..."Don't sell it too cheap, just cause Christmas is near...you gotta put the money in the bank". She didn't want her sons on motorcycles, so that made it a little easier.

    That is just FANTASTIC, I am way jealous! That red fender in your parts pile looks like the one that was on the bike in the pic. That original pic. is awesome!

    Pretty soon you'll start morphing into that guy.. get some glasses that are the same.. same clothes... hehe.. it's haunted! You should sell it to me immediately as to not incur the wrath of the original owner! [IMG]

    Congrats, it's gone to a good home no doubt.

    Thats the best... that motorcycle is better than money in the bank. I dont know what you paid for it but im sure its cheap enough that it would take her YEARS to make up the diff in intrest.

    Hatch = Ruler
    MADHATCH would be more fitting... it looks like a madmax bike. Can you picture tina turner on the back? hell yeah!

  15. Great find man. Wow!

    My two cents:

    Tear it down, have the frame, wheels, and fork blasted & coated, get everything mechanical in tip-top shape & back to shiney, get a few select chrome bits redone (not everything), put it back together w/ the patina'd tank, fender, and other bits, a reupholstered seat (horse hide) and ride baby ride.

    Here's a pic. for inspiration. Different model...but bad ass'd for sure.

    Nope, no old hydes layin' around the shop...but I could toss one out in the farmers field behind the shop and let the pigs walk on it for the winter [IMG] The old HD jacket could be kinda cool. Nothing's sacred right!?

    Dang Gus, that's cool. I didn't know you were working on that. Just between you, me and the fence post, I might be selling or trading off my bobber project. I'll know more in a few days.

    Steve, times up on the 24hr restoration. I'll be over tomorrow for lunch. I'll follow you to the Bully in my truck so I can report to everyone how you look on board. You will be riding it to lunch won't you?

    Thanks Brootal..that's a nice compliment....I guess I have always placed more importance in "doing things" as opposed to "having things".....things are fun, but not necessary for true happiness.....I feel like I stopped aging at 18.

    Hatch, I have a 1946 45 that I have ridden for 28 years. Let me know if I can help you. I have some other 45s. I am interested in buying any parts you will sell. Bruce Wayne

    30 yrs. ago I bought my first Harley, a 1943 45 inch. That bike got me home on one cylinder more than once. Those flatties are bullet-proof. I'd love to have it back...and I'll bet it's still running...somewhere. You got a real piece of history there, hang on to it. NOS parts are out there, look on egay, swapmeets. Leave it to Harley to produce that motor right up to '73 or so! Yup, I got a parking ticket in the 80's from a metermaid on a flathead! Have fun!

    Nice find. With a little work you can get that 45 to hit the 70 MPH mark. Make sure you go through the tranny. They are a pain in the ass to push home.
