Cool!!! I think it will be really neat. do the window coverings well and people will wonder if Nash made that "sedan Delivery" from the factory.

Just to throw another monkey wrench in, the 55 Nash Rambler (last year of the small car under the Nash name) had the front wheel wells opened up. The rears were still "skirted" though.

I like it! The fender openings are not overdone, and the side chrome looks like it was born there. Can't wait to see the results.

The rendering looks good! The one piece door glass really updates the look of the car. Should be enough room in the door for a one piece window, will take a little work, but shouldn't be bad. Might have to knock a front corner off though, like the new cars do with the mirrors.

One question... what are "wind splits"? The chrome bars in the grille to each side of the "R" badge?

All Nash cars are WEIRD and that is what I like about them. My other car is a 1967 "Pro-Street" Nova (I know, not HAMB compliant but I don't care) I am restoring a 59 Metropolitan and am WAY into it.

RESTORING -- as in putting back to/near original -- or modifying the Metro? Now remember, the Metro isn't 100% Nash. It's a Nash design but the body was built by Fisher Ludlow and the drivetrain by Austin, who also did the final assembly, both in England. Then they were shipped over here (and sold over there by Austin). The first captive import! Sales were okay, but the Rambler was more popular and Nash made more money off the Rambler line, so they ditched the Met.

I totally agree with 49Ratfink, Keep the outside as stock looking as possible and underneath hotrod it with something wild. My two cents worth. Good luck, keep us posted with photos. m.ralph

  10. been a while since ive posted anything got about 60 percent of the interior done (school project) seats are 64 mustang with new foam and covers i made and matching door panels also

started on the body, got new fenders shipped from oregon (well, better shape not new) in the process of fixing the messed up hood brace and building new ones. also fixed a tear i may or may not have put into the door trying to get a dent out of the bodyline  good practice lol

more updates to come stay tuned!

also have a pic of the final look of the car. color not decided yet but body modifications are. will be opening wheel wells up after i get new mounts made for different hinges for the hood

The fenders were opened up in 54, that Japanese car is a 54. Probably should have just got a set of 54 fenders, but they may be a bit more open than you want.

The hoods are pretty flimsy! Those added braces will certainly help a lot. There should be a rod on each side from the rear support toward the front sides also. Might have only been on later models?

  13. That's a pretty crazy 54, the 54 fenders are opened up but the opening is too square for me and the fenders aren't even close to the same. I can't bring myself to buy whole fenders just to cut them up.

If the 54s don't suit you then you're right -- no point in using them! What patch panels are you using for the openings, or did you make those?

Keep the bumper car look! Do not cut the wheel wells! Lower it and it won't matter what wheels you run 'cause no one will ever see them. I like the chrome/stainless trim that runs around the black one in past post.

  17. Wheel wells are already cut lol. Farna I used 67 through 72 chevy pickup upper lip patch panels there only 20 bucks a piece and with a little tweaking they fit perfect! Ill just taper the rear of the openings and it will totally change the look of the car.

not really hamb friendly, but a guy here locally retrofitted the entire interior kit from a new mini into one of these. it was a pretty slick conversion with relatively little effort. he left it as found ont exterior with the "new" interior. sorry,no pics.
