Should i do clear or tinted glass for my 1946 plymouth? Also need back window

So Im about to get the interior done on my 1946 PLYMOUTH Model P15 Club Coupe. But before I do so I need to replace 2 pieces of gl*** rear window/ alsop***enger door & was wondering if I should go clear or tinted?

damn, I just got a call back from BOB's Gl*** & they cant find a rear window, anyone know any other gl*** spots?

I vote tinted.

 

Tnted if you can come close to an original tint. I got tint gl*** for a '50s car that I have and I just love that greenish looking gl*** that they used back then.

Modern smoked gl*** doesn't do an old car justice.

 

The good thing is, I'm pretty sure '46, '47, and '48 are all identical for the coupe. Someone correct me if this isn't right...

 

That's one I can't answer for sure.

I can give you two places to look for new gl***, one is Hadrin Gl***. If they haven't gone belly up from the recession they have them all over creation and they are a good source for windshields and back gl*** for cl***ics.

The other place to look is a fella here on the HAMB goes by the name of The Gl***man. I thik he is in the NW but don't hold me to that. I do know he ships.

 

I like tinted on some. Is the back gl*** flat? If so any gl*** shop can cut one.

 

You have the club coupe, it is different from the business coupe. Make sure you order the correct gl***. 46-48 are the same. And if I'm not mistaken the closed cabs are the same back to 40.

 

Well one thing if you tint it and don't like it , you can always pull it off.

 

We've always done the mild green tinted gl***. It is almost not noticable but has a softer look to it than non tinted. Easier on the eyes too.

This might be a resource for you. I have not had any work done here, but have heard good things and did meet the owner a while back. The website says San Dimas, but they have moved to Riverside. Might be worth a call. They specialize in hot rod/vintage stuff.

You would never notice the green tint unless you had it sitting next to a piece of clear gl***, and if your other windows arent tinted, i wouldn't order new pieces tinted, but you could tint them all at once after your new gl*** is in.

I think tinded would look geat weather it was the green, or smoked!

 

If the original gl*** is clear, I would go back clear....

 

Went all clear when replacing all the gl*** in our 50 Chev. Kinda wish now we would have went with a factory looking tint.
