I crashed my daily driver GMC on Wednesday - got smacked from the back and then pushed into the guy in front of me. All I can say is THANK god for my seatbelt because the airbag never deployed.

Unfortunatley she's totaled and I walked away - wear em!!!

Yeah I was surprised last night that one of my friends said he never wears his. There's a reason why they're there, and why we have laws about wearing them.
Glad you made it out ok, unfortunatly most people aren't as smart as you.

    Glad you're ok!

Now, when the insurance company hands you cash, pay off the remaining balance and buy you another hot rod! :)

that was a nice truck....sorry dude!

  8. Brett,

Wow, I'm glad you're alright. What did the back look like, if the front was secondary impact? Please tell me it wasn't a teenage girl on a cell phone! The last few times I have been up in TC, I have had run ins with teenage girls talkin on there phone. They just don't know what is going on, and they definitely don't take driving seriously. Scary ****, when you put your life in the hands of a stranger.:D

Have a great father's day. I wish the boneyards were open on the weekends, that would be a fun father's day.....aside from hangin' with harrison and mommy.

    Later,

Brett, I always use mine and insist on my p***engers fastening theirs.

    This reinforces it for me!
    Glad you are ok.

Glad your okay.Air bags work off of decelaration and the airbag computer takes many factors into consideration before deployment.

Sorry about the truck, but good to hear you weren't injured. I barely hit a curb one time and my airbags deployed. There wasn't a drop of damage to the car, but it costs a fortune to replace both airbags and the dash. The Onstar people nearly drove me crazy, because they insisted I stay there until they could deploy the cops. I explained that there was no damage to the curb, any vehicles or people, but they wouldn't go away. I kept driving and they kept telling me to stop. They finally gave up after what seemed like an eternity and signed off. They come on your radio, but you can't turn them off. I guess I would have been grateful to deal with them, if someone had been injured, but they were just an annoyance in this situation.

I wear my seatbelt, but I think I should have a choice, in my property! In other words, I think it should not be a law.:D What are you buying to ride in next?

Glad you are okay Brett. I actually bought some seatbelts for my truck this week. This might inspire me to actually install them now. Again, glad you are okay.

Well at least the " GM employee discount SALE " is going on........and you can replace it for less than what you paid or it.......

Good you were not injured, vehicles can be replaced......people can't.......

I rarely wore my belt until my son was born. After that I realized there are people who love, depend on me, & would like to keep me around. Now I always wear my seatbelt & insist everyone who rides with me does as well. WWS

good to hear two things, you wear your seat belt & no injuries. mayb a little sore?

Here in AZ we have a real problem with parents not belting their children into the vehicle.......

Don't get pissy here, but for the large part it is Mexicans that do not seat belt their children.

We had 2 kids thrown from an SUV crash 2 - 3 weeks back because they were NOT belted in.

Glad to hear you aren't hurt. I know I am putting belts in my 55, I was raised knowing to put them on.

That old ad reminded me of some footage from Ford in the 50's. I think it was Ford, anyhow they would strap hogs in the seats and crash test the cars. I'm sure I saw an Edsel crash and the steering wheel was not very nice to that hog. Pretty gruesome, glad that cars seem to be safer now. Wish they had some style though. Brian

With all of the emphasis on wearing seatbelts, people often forget about headrests. I got rear-ended in my truck last November, the impact was enough to send my headrest through the back window of my regular cab truck. About a month before the accident I decided that a guy of my height (6'3") should probably drive around with the headrest in the right place. I'm thankful I did, it saved me a trip to the hospital or worse.
