i found an edelbrock c355 fairly close to home for a decent price. it also has 3 rochesters on it. while looking for some info on it on the internet i found out it was for the 265-283ci engines and due to the small runners it did not perform well on anything any bigger. can anyone with expience with this setup give me some feedback with this setup? i am looking for some opinions before i layout some $ and not be happy with it. thanks Shockley!
Don't believe everything you read on the 'net. I've got an old Edlebrock (356 I think, didn't go check it) that was made for early corvette's-very low profile and big base Rochesters. I love it, wouldn't change for anything. Its on a 350 w/ stock heads, small cam. With progressive linkage its just like a stocker until you nail it. If I have to explain the rest, ---------. cooger
It's mostly just for "looks" anyway right? A lot of guys make the two outer carbs in-operable or "dumbies". Just port match the runners to the heads and it'll be fine. I have an "early" 56' dual quad intake (factory) that came with the SMALL runners; only someone ruined the intake by port matching it to LARGER runner heads. Now I can't use it with my SMALL runner heads, or at least without sacrificing the whole purpose of doing it anyway. I think you'll be fine going the "other" way. Butch/56sedandelivery. Just curious, does your intake have a oil return line port already drilled/tapped/plugged, and have a casted boss at the left rear of the intake for a 55 style temp sending unit?
The C 3 5 5 is for a 265 ! It is not wide enuff for a 350 ! A small block is a small block BULL **** ! 265 intake gaskets are also different ! Do a search on this thread ( Need Intake Gasket Help - Please ) ! Ive been there done that , hope this helps you !
Well, curiousity got me. My setup is a C362 edlebrock, manifold brought out in '62 for big base Rochesters and 1" lower profile than normal-for Corvette applications. They would have been 327's, and the manifold would probably fit fine with 283's (most 327 stuff did) and possibly 265's. Good luck with yours if you buy it. Might talk to Charlie Price of Vintage Speed about the manifold and carbs-I used his bases on my end carbs-perfect. As I said, love 'em and the cool factor is off the charts. cooger
Peckerhead is right. The C355 was only for the 265. I ran into a deal a few years ago and picked a C355 with carbs but then discovered it wouldn't work on my 350. I ended up selling the C355 for enough money to buy a new C357.
