Thread on a BIGGER 28-29 Closed Cab A Pickup.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Gasser 57, Jan 28, 2012.

  1. Hey fellas, I'm trying to find an older thread on a 28 or 29 Ford Model A closed cab pickup where iirc, the guy streched it in 4 directions to make a bigger yet proportionally identical truck. I've been searching through old threads for quite a while but I'm done. Does anybody remember this one?

I'm restoring a 29 AA and I've never seen it. I did see one that has the extended cab corners 6" longer than stock. When I diasmantled my cab, I made my own cab corners 6" longer than stock. For the sides, I used 14 ga. cold rolled steel, the back piece, I used 16 ga. cr. They turned out good. I made new cab corner brackets 14 ga., they are bigger and stronger. The floor was originally 20 ga., I replaced the entire floor with 16 ga. cr. The sub rails were 14 ga. so I just made 6" extentions and welded them on. For top wood, I had some short pieces of oak, so I cut them on a table saw and made a lap joint with one screw and gorilla glue.
good luck, carry on nick c

  7. Bump for the Sunday crowd. The truck I'm looking for pics of wasn't one of the ones mentioned above but thanks for the leads. I'm pretty sure it was in green primer
(or semi-gloss paint?) and was still under construction when it was posted. I think it had wire wheels too. It wasn't just a stretched cab, it was widened too. Any help appreciated.

There WAS a HAMB thread on a black 34-ish truck that was "puffed up" to fit the larger than average owner. I'll try to find the link for ya. It was very nicely done and well proportioned. Gary

Never mind. It's evidently too old and not in the available archives. Gary

That's the one I was thinking of, glad you could bring it back to life. A very well done job. Gary
