    Hi there,

Does anyone know if there is an HEI for a 390 or one that would be compatable?

Maybe a conversion kit to at least make it pointless system and internal mechanical advance so I can do away with the points and vac*** advance?

    All help is appreciated, thanks

  2. yes, there is something available to convert to HEI , but i think you will want to keep your va***m advance

another option would be a Pertonix module

I am running a Dave's Small Body HEI and have been happy with it.

  4. You can get the stuff out of a late model dizzy and put it in your dizzy.

or Petronix, crane, holley and mallory all make kits to convert it. they range in price from about 80.00 to 100.00 bucks.

Or I'm pretty sure that you can buy a complete dizzy from Accel, mallory, or MSD. thoise will probably run you from about 150.00 to 350.00.

Thanks for the info, it sounds great! I read the discription of the large and small cap, but I'm still uncertain of which one I have and what he would refer to it as.

Any way of clearing that up for me? Mine has the two clips on the sides. Thanks

The truck stuff is the way to go if you're on the cheap, I pulled one out of a 78 p/u and put it in my 58 custom 300 (40 over 390, lots-o-head work, good intake, 500 lift cam, 4 speed, 4:11 posi) run like a ****d ape. No problems in over 3 years, and this stuff was used when I got it.

we can do a factory ford (76 ford pick-up) elec. dist for 25.00 plus ups. you will still need to make up a small wiring harness and get a ford ign. box

  9. The large cap is like you would find on a later Mustang or something along those lines. They used the same dizzy body and then had an adapter to put a larger diameter cap on them. It was supposed to stop cross fireing.
