Greetings Time to order wheels. Looking for wheels similar to 48 Mercury with 4 1/2" bolt pattern. Have searched for a source to find out what the overall width of a 32 Ford 5 window is at the top of the rear fenders. I have looked for that info online and in the "32" books with out success. Does anyone have that info that would share? Thank you Jack
Maybe NOT the exact answer you are looking for ... but my rims are 64 inches ... measured at the outside of the rim to the outside of the rim. And they are under the fenders.
Jack, When I read your post on the V8 Club site I ***umed you were looking for the width of the body as measured on the belt of the body at the top of the fenders. When I saw your post here I at first thought you wanted the width of the body on the inside of the wheel wells to you could be sure your tires didn't rub the wheel wells. Now I think you want the width at the outside of the fenders so the tires won't extend beyond the fenders. Is my third guess right? Charlie Stephens
I have a '32 roadster which I ***ume is the same. If I measure the width of my running boards at the rear fender between the frame and the fender bead I get 11 1/4 inches. If I go to the Wescott's frame drawing http://www.wescottsauto.com/Tech/FrameDiagram1932.pdf the frame is 43 1/2 wide. Adding all of these together I get 66 inches which I think is the number you are after (see guess 3 post 3 above). Charlie Stephens
For above posters, thank you This car has been apart long enough for me to have forgotten nearly everything. I want to order wheels similar to Deuce Roadster. Jack
For wheels similar to '48 Merc, the International pickup wheels from the '50s fit that description and understand, but have not personally verified, the internal "bump" hub cap retainers match the Ford/Merc wheel dimensions. They are 15" and of modest width. Ray
