Hey guys, Since I am recuperating from surgery I figure I can get ready for the build on my 1948 F1..Quick question...I bought a 94 police notch back Mustang..Has a nice beafy 302 with T5 Trans and I think it is a 8.8 rearend. I know most guys go with the 9" ford, but just wondering if that rearend will be enough for the build? Would appreciate your feed back...Scot

Actually that rear end will be what is called an 8.8, and it is plenty for your truck! Good Luck with it.

Hope your doing okay..I am building a 1950 f1 and I used a posi 8.8 disc brake rear from a 92 ford Explorer.. Nice fit and I'm using a 302 Ford crate motor..You'll have to see how wide the stang's rear end is backing plate to backing plate

The 8.8 is plenty strong. I'm using one from a disc braked explorer in my F1. Not sure what the width of the mustang axle is. If it's not right, don't bother changing the width, just go get one from an explorer.

A stock 8.8 rear from a 79-93 Fox bodied Mustang is 59 in. axle flange to axle flange. Factory drums are 1/8 in thick. Overall width is 59 1/4 in wheel to wheel. Bob
