That needs more than a sleeve. Looks like the crack started at head bolt. You better have a good reason to fix that block. It can be fixed but will take someone who know thier stuff. Knowing stuff = $$$ You have to fix the head bolt hole or it will strip out

did the sleeve deal on several race engines years ago and they were fine for a while but allways leaked in the end, I would find another block. remember when you torque that head bolt you open the crack up

  5. You could find somebody in your area that does cast iron welding before you do any machine work. Or, sleeve it for a street engine

I'd sleeve and lock***e stud bolts in it. We race dirt cars and use 400 blocks, they are really bad about cracking like that, we have one 421 stroker that has 3 sleeves in it and has survived 6 seasons of 7000 + rpm abuse with no problems. We put so much money in prepping our blocks we can't throw one away because of a crack.

Sleeve and pin it.Don't even think about welding it.The weld will cause the parent metal to be as hard as gl*** and the only options after that involve grinding .Pin it and be done with it not a complicated job at all. My2¢
