Have you asked Paul Norman in Rochester NH?
    He's on the HAMB under"PaulN"
I believe he currently has an old 40' Heavy Channel/chop job from the 50's, that he recently found that had been stashed for years...
PM me for his #, if you can't get ahold of him.

OK folks the story and search continues on. My buddy is familiar with the car Paul Norman has and that is not the same car. The lost car had a purple dashboard back in the day and this one does not.
Any way Paul Norman did own the lost car back in the mid seventies and it was sold to some one else possible in Raymond,NH. Also some time in it's life a nova subframe was installed.
Prior to Rt 101 being completed my friend would take the backroads through Raymond to get to Amherst,Nh swap/flea market. He rembers going by a house that had a coupe in the yard with no front end at the time. Actualy the guy had 2 coupes, which includes a black chopped body sitting on barrels. My friend heard from a frined of his in the area that that the black coupe had been in an acident with a tree. My buddys friend said he would find out the guys name. But the friend ended up moving away and that contact was lost. I guess this part of the story was in the 1980's. So the guy who owned the 2 coupes would be in his 80's now. Any way some years latter Tim my buddy went back to locate that house but could not find it. Possible the house burnt down and was replaced with a trailer and was being rented per the guy who moved away.

So to come to the point if any one recalls a fellow who had a black chopped 40 coupe and a gray chopped coupe from the Raymond,NH area the information would be appreciated.
Probably by this time the lost car has been disassembled and only the coupe body is left and hidden form view and not scrapped .
    Thanks for the help everyone

My recommendation is to put a craigslist ad out in NH, maine, and all surrounding states (since a similar one was seen in Rhode Island). The car could be anywhere or it might not exist anymore...sadly. You;d be amazed at what craigslist can turn up. Just a thought

I do not think there was a kick in the rear frame. Just an original 40 frame. Body was chanelled about 10 to 12 inches I estimate. Notice how the top of the fenders where sort of scalop cut to clear the top of the tires. Chop must have been 5/6 inches. I only saw the car once up close in a backyard garage . I was probably about 14 at the time which would be 1964. Car had a droped front axel and a flathead. After I saw it the car was sold for $400. Imagine that . Shortly after that the motor was blown up and the car set for a while by a house on route 9 going to Berwick ,Maine. Then car was sold possibly to someone from New Hampshire and disapeared about 1966 as the story goes. 56 years ago. Not sure but I think kicking up frames for lowering was not a popular deal back then. Probably had long shackles in the rear. Car was built in the very early 60's by a guy named Keith Palmer from North Berwick and Wells,Maine

Route 9 out of NH into Maine and on to route 4 would have been a way to go to the Sanford drags at that time.

I did know the where about of a 39, 40 coupe that could of looked the same but it has a hugh kick in the rear frame. all the fender and nose metal are missing from it now. Maybe it's whats left of the one from R.I.? Lou Auclair of central fall owned it last and I haven't seen it in at lest 5 year. I did ask around about it and I might by at a guy named Eddie in Forster R.I. now. Jared

Jared The car we are looking for had a camaro front frame clip grafted on the original frame in the early 1970's. I will ask my buddy if he knows if the rear was kicked up. My buddy saw it with the camaro clip and the car was dissasembled at that time.

Well everyone now that Petes thread on his new project "insane coupe got to have it" has slowed down and not so virel.:) Congrats Pete !!

I will move this to the top again. We are still looking for this lost coupe from the eary 60's ,built in southern Maine and dissappered in/from the Rochester, New Hampshire area in the early 70's. This was a running and driving rod up untill then. Actually the original flathead v8 was blown up before leaving Maine. The car was in a more or less dissasembled state in the early 70's then and a camaro clip had been graffted on the original frame. The dashboard was painted purple in the original build.

Come on guys and girls some one must remember this car and have information on it

TFoch thans for your input. Maybey you could mention to your friends about this lost car we are looking for. Perhaps they might remember something. Really appreciate your help.

curbspeed I have been following that thread from Pete. That is not the same car. The one we are looking for was a finished driving car at one time inthe late 60's early 70's. Thanks for your intrest.
