I picked up this radio recently and it seemed like it would be a cool project to restore a radio. I cant find any info on the model but the little info I have gotten is saying it's from around '33. I blasted it and was going to get it powder coated and maybe run a iPod hook up to the og speaker. Any input on if something like this would be worth the time/money or if they're actually worth anything restored? Even if it's not it looks cool in the garage I guess. Thanks
I'd pull the guts and keep them. It's a spectacular piece, and if you do decide to restore it, you can have it done later. Good hidey-hole as well.
That's kind of what I was thinking, I'm going to restore the exterior and run an iPod and send the guts out for restoration later to get it back on the tubes. I just wasn't sure if it was a rare piece and worth something that I should consider going all out with. I'm sure it's worth something but I spent hours researching it and came up with nothing. Any ideas on what these things might go for?
From the view you're showing, it looks like a speaker box instead of a complete radio with knobs & tuner. Is that right ? Jonnie King www.legends.thewwbc.net
From the research I've done it's missing the tuner knob that would have been mounted through the dash via a metal cable, but it is a whole radio with the speaker in the front.
