I was wondering about this intake as the base for the carbs are angled, what was the purpose for this? This isn't the first one that I have seen this way and am curious about it. Was wondering how they would run on a car or truck this way or if a person would need any modifications. Thanks
Must have been for a boat. It seems like when you see intakes with angles on them they are marine motors. you should be able to mill it flat.
All car motors (and truck) slope down to the back. At least, on rear wheel drive vehicles. They make the manifold that way to make the carb sit level. Marine engines slope down even more, and have manifolds even more tilted.
Most cars about 7 degrees I think. Boats, a lot more. See if you can find a manifold out of a rear drive vehicle and notice the angle.
I am trying to put this on a 226 Ford Flathead 6 cylinder and put it into a 1948 F-3 pickup. Would the angle be correct? I currently don't have the motor in the truck and due to the season am not able to get it in until warmer weather.
