Could this be the world's coolest mascot?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Junkyard Dog 32, Jun 20, 2005.

  1. I doubt it, but I bought it anyway...

I just grabbed this off of everyone's favorite parts dump.

It said it was a Franklin, dated 1934...

There was more info on the auction page...

I don't know if what I paid is above or below the real value, but I liked the hell out of it... :)

Anyone else have any cool and unusual mascots?

This one is on there, now, but there's no way I can justify that much money for it.

Franklin Diecasting made various aftermarket maskots for different cars in the 30's. The original one shown in the intro to this thread was actually made as a replacement for 34 Chevs, which originally had a stylised 'flying bird' not a 'flying seahorse' as this is! Nice score, I have seen one other, treat it carefully, it will be fairly brittle. tooratly

  7. Actually, I've seen the seahorse on Ebay, before, and it went for over $400...
but, that doesn't equate to it's value. Ebay isn't the final word on price, like many people think it is.

I set my E-snipe for $150, not expecting to get it. When I got home from BTT50's it was like Christmas.

I'm after a 52 Nash, too. If anyone has one...
    Ain't she ***y...?

You did good! I have had neat hood ornaments but some were fragile and broke from wind or vibration or maybe a combo of both, and others have just been stolen. I am putting a "hot rod devil duckie" on my rat rod Packard, cheap, different and easy to replace.

    I can't get to EGay...blocked at work...

how much does a husky like that go for?

I'm thinking of taking everything off the hood of my caddy but that would be cool as hell somewhere. I have an akita and he looks just like that. Dumb as an ox too. Names Rufus and it fits...rufus the dufus. a lot like his old man..haa.

  14. I paid $28.95 for the Husky. Usually they go for around $40 or more... depending on condition.
Back whe Ebay first started, they were high as hell, but, like anything, once a few get circulating the market catches on and prices fall.

I have an American Eskimo, that's why I liked it, too...gonna put it on my Dodge Ram 4x4...

    I took this picture yesterday...:D

Wait!!! Yesterday? You have that much snow in JUNE?

    WTF?

my dog LOVES the snow. I took him up into the snow for the first time winter before last. He freakin loved it. Was running all over jumping. Never seen him jump so high. He jumped up like a 4 foot snow embankment...didn't touch it. just cleared it. 70 pound dog. Nuts. I can't wait to get him up there again. Maybe next year.

  17. That's not snow... she guards my Coke lab.

Something tells me I need to keep an eye on her, though...

Here's my 2 Martha Stewart cents. I bought a '52 Olds rocket hood ornament and screwed it to the back of my bathroom door. I hang my robe on it.

I know it's lame. But it wouldn't look good on the hood of my VW. Which is also lame.
