I'm building a 63 C10 and am thinking about going with some scallops when it's time to paint...

I love the way the scallops are laid out on the image below, but not that wild about the colors.

Could the photoshop gurus work their magic and change the colors for some ideas? Right now, I'm leaning towards a "maui" blue with white scallops, but I don't know.

    Thanks yet again! :D

Okay this will hopefully be the last request.
I was wondering if someone could take this picture with the scallops
    [IMG]
and make them a little less jagged and make them purple like this
    [IMG]
and with the wheels and stance like this
    [IMG]
without the body moulding on the truck please. I would greatly appreciate it!!! Thank you very much!!!!!

James D that was much appreciated.I have looked through this thread and you have some amazing photoshop work on here. GOOD JOB. Can I ask for some other ideas. How about a dark blue steelie with same 3 inch www. Also, what it would look like with 1inch www black steelies. If you could put it into a dark red/zinc oxide primer as well or some other dark colors with all the chrome trim to see what the final product could look like that would be awesome. Thank you.

I did this earlier and thought about posting it and I now see you are considering purple for the scallops. I did a version that way and the colors came across a little too "Barney". LOL! With the right colors I think it could be pulled off. What I envisioned here was a cream color scallop striped with mint green.

I also apologize for the jagged edges. I don't do much photochop and I usually do a combination of paintworks to rough things in and only touch up on photochop. I am still learning. LOL!

A lot of the cars that fit this theme still had some chrome in place if it was tasteful and the truck looks a little thick with it gone but not too bad. Maybe just remove the Ford badge on the hood? Not sure if in reality that would require mods to the trim or if it is simply removable.

Also, I wondered after the trim removal about running scallops at the front of the hood and wrapping into the fender then running down the side of the truck towards the rear to fill that void. Also the ones on the roof would wrap and be at the leading edge to mimic those that would be on the hood. Just brainstorming here.

Thank you Sonic. I didn't even think about it being Barney-ish. What about that purple, but maybe a little darker for the body, and silver scallops, or something?

I would like to see it with beige wheels

I'm getting ready to get started on this 59 El Camino and could use some design assistance. Can someone please clean this thing up - copper colored body with black scallops, black wheels, maybe even a black roof.

Or any other combo that will accent the lines.

    Thanks in advance.

I've been messing around with this photo for awhile now, and learning a lot in the process. NONAME has this project sitting in the corner of his shop waiting it's turn. He has a good part of it done, but it still has a ways to go. The photo is of a customer's car he did some glass work on, and he sent it to me to show what his '48 used to look like. I had snuck some reference pics of his so I could get it close.

I think I have more time cleaning up all the background crap than I do rendering the car.

    Enjoy!

    OK, I'll take a shot.
I found the original photo with grille intact to see what I was working with. Then I worked with the stock look to come up with a custom version.

Removed the top bar, extended the hood down to meet a new flat bar.
Brought the third bar end in a bit to create a waterfall look.

I left the bumper alone, but I think I would play with the bumperettes for a little visual interest. Maybe remove the larger center ones and move the smaller ones inboard.

This version is pretty chromey, but you could tone it down with the usual custom tricks. I would leave the extended "silver-streak" to keep the Pontiac identification.

Just added another version with the head lights frenched, fender spears deleted, and the center bumperettes removed.

Last Version: Bumper cleaned, tucked, last bar in place.

    TB3-

First- You're correct, James D is awesome at what he does.
Second- He took the time to help you out, which he does for a lot of people here, even while he's on his lunch break-
Third- Asking him to completely redo your shit photo in multiple colors with multiple wheels, and multiple trim options is asking for 20+ hours worth of work- for free. Can you smell what I'm steppin' in? You've been here for all of seven minutes and 24 posts.. Like walking into someone's shop and because they're a great welder you want 20+ hours worth of welding for free- "because they're awesome".

I'm not trying to be a dick, but some of you noobs ask for waaaaay too much when you haven't done anything to contribute to the board like MANY of us have- for MANY years.

So now because you've complemented him, and asked for more, do you really expect him to take that amount of time to do all this for you? And if he is busy at work (which he gets PAID) are you going to get all kinds of butt-hurt because he didn't help you? I had some clown harass me for a month via email over a simple wheel change which turned into 20- and all had to be done yesterday- like I owed him something.

If you post something here and ask for help- all good. If you get help, even better- but don't abuse those of us that do this- it's all I'm saying.

    Now that's a clean machine!
I like that you kept the fender spears for a little visual pizzazz.
