There are some good motels near the end of Marine Drive in Troutdale. Marine drive goes straight to the Expo Center, about 12 miles away.

The Expo Center is on the Max (light rail) line, so you could also stay Downtown (pretty much all of the hotels downtown are within a couple blocks of a station) and have a more enjoyable stay with lots of other things to do. It would also make for convenient access to the Rose Garden or South Waterfront, which are the places where Cirque du Soleil is usually set up, depending on which one it is.

Even if you have a rental car, I would definitely take Max anyway, Parking for the swap meet is a royal pain in the ***.

Last year we stayed at the Hilton in Vancouver just across the river.Got 2 room with 2 queen size beds in each for $78 per night per room. Made reservations on line through booking outfit ( xpedia etc.) Big 6 near the swap meet was over $120 per night.

Another recommendation for the Hilton in Vancouver, or even the Red Lion at the Quay. Just a hop skip over the I-5 bridge and you'll hit the expo.

Stayed at the Oxford Suites last year. They had a free shuttle to and from the swap meet going all weekend. And the free breakfast is a plus. Already got my room booked for this year same place.
