Are the grills on a 1937 Chevy p***enger car interchangeable with a 1938? Or do you have to replace the whole cowl?

You would have to replace the grille surround(doghouse?) also.....

I believe the hood, grille shell, and grille is needed.

I think the hoods are the same, but you'd have to change the doghouse.

I'm pretty sure the hoods are different too.

I keep trying to read your original post to answer your question, but keep getting distracted by your avatar ;)

Thanks for the info guys...I just like the vertical runs in the 37 grill over the 38 horizontal ones... but no biggie...

Superior Gl***works has laser cut grills in several configurations. If vertical slots aren't listed ask Brad to order one. Same price.

Okej from sweden. you need hood complete, front, grill, lamps, all of the trim. radiator can be just with a little modifications. the body and fenders is same, that all.

Our 38 coupe has the entire front clip from a 37. Bolted right up and looks factory. I believe that you have to change the entire front including the hood.

This sounds like you need to change the fenders too; which don't need to be changed.

    Hi,

The 37 and 38 main body is basically the same there are some differences between the 2 as far as some bolt on fender parts. The rear fenders for a 38 sedan are 1/2 wider than the 37's ( Dad tudor has one of each 37 on one side and 38 on the other ). The front fenders I believe are the same between the 2 years. The grill shell, Grill, hood and headlight stands are different between the 2 year. But if you have the front half it would be a bolt on exchange.

    Anyway that's my 2 cents.
