Well, you read my whole post, and missed the point.

Before I tucked it away people would ask about the car, and make rediculous offers on it. After explaining why it wasn't for sale a few time my reply quickly turned into "Do you see a sign on the Motherfucker?". And the guys that will tell you that "everythings for sale for the right price" had about 30seconds to get the fuck off my property(long enough for me to get my 12gauge). Back to the point, there's alot of stuff that IS for sale. Buy it.

    Gash...

you know.. that old fart you are talking about is the grandfather of my cousin over in florida, i've heard the story, you know what , he was going to give you the car real cheap next time you called/showed up
, he was just pulling your leg all the time to see how persistant you was he just wanted to make sure it went to someone who really really cared. took my cousin 5 years to talk him of a 1939 coupe to buy from him...
, but after seeing your attitude he was really glad he didn't,

    fucking moron!

well, I guess there's a whole lot of "point missing" going on in this thread then.

The stuff I've found for a reasonable price always seems to be out west,..and I'm here on the east coast battling the fact that our winters take the life outta most stuff,...so buying what's for sale isn't as easy as it sounds when you just plain don't have the cash to blow for some of the prices that you see. Not looking for the utimate cheap score, just good stuff at reasonable prices,...there's not much here in the way of that. period. Not everyone has the cash to be able to afford trucking stuff out from timbuktoo to their place.

  5. Meanwhile, there's guys like me that "WANTS" to sell stuff and noone wants it! Maybe the guy that sits on his stuff and lets it ROT is because he's tired of getting his tits ground on the price everytime someone comes to buy? But, yeah, ya gonna let the shit turn to dust while you eat dog food with those 2 lousy teeth you got left in that head of yours? LOL

With the attitude you present, both with your first post, and this one, I wouldn't sell you a damn thing. Nothing, not a damn thing, ever!

The first step is to realize that you have an attitude. Then the insults won't come as often or be as prolific. They say that when you finally attain true wisdom, you come to realize that you know absolutely nothing. I can't verify that to be true from my own experience; maybe someday.

  9. I used to have people try to "save" my cars many times. I still own my first car, a 1969 Dart Swinger 340. It has no motor and is beat up, and is in my garage. And it is not for sale for any price.

It is on the backburner while I finish my Camaro, and finish my car hauler ford. It has been on the back burner before and will be again after I fix it up.

I have had people walk behind my house and into my open garage to look at the car. I have had them open the car and get into it. Then they get pissy with me when I tell them it is not for sale. Unually its some punk ass kid who thinks he "deserves" the car because he tells me "your not doing anything with it". The offers are rediculous, and then most of the time the guys get rude. At my new house I now have it hidden in my garage where noone can see it, just so the peckers don't insult me because I will not give them the car for nothing.

  10. The comments in this thread show why big, mean and territorial dogs will always have a job. Cars for sale generally have for sale signs on them. Simple, no? My crazy dog, Zeke, would bite because he knows that's his job. Or he gets replaced. If you step past a Beware of Dog sign and get bit, remember the dog's just doing what he's supposed to do.

Many of us can be called hoarders, I like to think of it as saving it from the bad guys. The one I'm "hoarding" will never become an overdone Goldchainer ride. Likewise it will never suffer the indignity of becoming a "rat rod".

I've found this has opened a few doors for me. When I was out looking for my truck last year I was a 21 year old kid driving our 30 Model A with my dad. It doesn't really look like a show car since I drive it every day, it's actually used.

So the guy selling it thinks that we have the capacity to make it a real car, it won't turn into a trailer queen, we won't turn it the week after for a profit and I'm actually a young kid who's really interested in older cars with some competent help. I've found so many doors open up when you ask a Model A owner who has it as an original and you are able to identify the little stuff in his car (Canadian vs American parts, what year and the little stuff he's changed on it).

That's why I like fiberglass bodies. I can drive you youngsters, who feel you are entitled to what you want, when you want it, bonkers longer - since they don't rust. Hopefully, your kids will ask me to sell them my cars, and I can drive them nuts too. And I'm willing them to a friend of mine who will continue the tradition. This is a traditional rodding board....:p

The only good use for fiberglass is insulation and underpants, or insulated fiberglass underpants.

It's funny I've got 4 old cars sitting in my driveway and no one ever asks me to sell 'em but if coaltownkid did I'd give him the 'bro deal.

Could it be that the Old Guy was right about you all along?

If you really were a Car Guy, you would have been as sad as he was because of the distruction of that Car...

But you weren't, you went over there to rub salt in the wound.
Did you remember to charge him for the Tow??

I like the truck, Rich. Check out the Ayala Bros thread and look at their shop truck. Maybe you could spell pigpen out in chromed wrought iron.

  20. This was the situation with me a few months ago: Old local guy has about fifteen old cars buried up in the woods next to house that have been there for at least 30 years, won't let anyone in to look at them, a buddy of mine stops by one day and gets the usual "no, go away" speech. So I tell him, I bet I can get us in there and I did! After talking with the guy and sharing some stories I was informed that the reason they didn't let anyone back there is b/c several people have made promises to buy the cars and then bailed out, a couple of times they bailed after they had paid, then showed up and found that he no longer had the titles (burned in a house fire) they wanted their money back. He actually sold us a few cars and we actually went and got them. He was not outta line on prices either, we're talking $100-300.00 dollar cars here, but you can see where if you sell an old chevy to a guy for $150 bucks and then he shows up with a trailer and wants his money back when he finds there is no radiator, the mindset of "fuck you go away" can come into play. (it was a 4 dr 55 Bel air by the way. complete minus radiator.)

You're a liar, and fuck you. You have no relation to him and that's a fact, he had no kids and was never married. Nice try.

Someone who really cared ? To address some of the other replyies. I didn't offer "shit" for it, actually my final offer was 8K for what he was so proud of telling me he paid 200.00 for. He knew I'd had my Model A for 20 years and knew it wasn't going to be sold the same as this wasn't. I'm not going into all the nuances of all of our conversations, but suffice it to say he knew how serious I was about it and the promises I made about it, it wasn't going to be a rat rod or POS rolling turd or even hot rodded , I do bodywork and paint for a living, he knew it would be looking new in no time. Anyway, I'm through with this thread, wusses behind keyboards don't bother me, so to you dicks who want to pass judgement on someone you don't even know, or expect me to grovel on some intro post, fuck you very much.

It comes down to what kind of man you are. I picked up my 1931 tudor from a great, older gentleman. He was in his late 60's, had a stroke, loved A's, had a very nice resto he did himself. He had the 1931 for sale from january, until I bought it in may. It was in the local trading paper, it started out at $1450, and by time I bought it his asking price was $2250. It is rough, rusty at the bottom, with a rebuilt, running stock 4cyl. Not the greatest builder, but worth working on, and complete. He said he had a couple of guys a week come look at it. The guy knew what he had, and just wanted to sell it for a reasonable amount. With in 15min of getting to his house I owned the car, and was hanging out with a cool guy, learning about all kinds of things that only cool older guys know about. When I came back in the morning to pick it up, I showed up when I said I would, and his wife had a cup of coffee waiting for me. The guy said he knew when I told him I would be there, I would. In the process of loading the car, he gave me 6-7 front Ibeams, 8-9wishbones, and his wife had some hand made throws, that I could give to my girlfriend, and mother for mothers day. All this from a guy I was told would run you off when you tried to buy the car, let alone for less than original asking price.

Every Model A part/car I have has a story just like this. I have bought prime stuff from diehard stock resto guys, rusty junk from fellow rodders. I am not a teenager, I am 30years old, I have my entire right arm and leg sleeved with tattoos, and people almost always treat me well. I like to think it has to do with the way I treat them, but I could just be lucky.

O/T I do not respond to lots of non tech post on other boards, but until I have been around a while it is a easy way to make more than a simple intro.

Golly Mr. Gash, I hope you won't go away mad. I don't think anyone here wants you to grovel on some intro post, but an intro according to the rules would be lovely, if you could see your way to do it.
We certainly weren't passing judgement on you - just responding to your informative post. Please say you'll stick around - we're starting a new board about traditional proctology and need a big asshole. :p

    Thanks,

Yeah, I gotta sat dude, that is quite the attitude for someone who "cares". A real cra guy cries when one dies like that, whether he had a bad relation with the guy or not. I know I have been there. And I can also tell you from one FNG to another, you are a luckky fucker that you have not had your ass reamed more than this for not posting an introduction. Fuck, how hard is that to do. Go to the new member section and click on new thread and write something. Hi I'm a gash and I try to like cars that peole will give me.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get off on a tangent there. Back to the thread at hand.

We had a local guy here who had a shitload of old cars and would never sell any either. Unless you knew him very well and he trusted that you wouldn't fuck it up, you were shit out of luck. Why do some folks do this? Who knows, does it suck? Fuckin' A it does. I mean this fella had probably 10 acres of 20's - 50's car that were in good condition and IU knew one guy that could go in there and buy stuff. He was as anal as the old man who owned the place, god forbid you cut something up or hot rodded anything, that's blasphemy. Anyway, This dudes lot was in the middle of town in a fast paced growth area, so we all figured sonner or later some of the stuff would have to sell. Me and some of my buds have been eyeballin' the joint for years, literally at least 20. Finally we see that he has sold it, so we keep an eye out and guees what? He actuall trasported all those cars like 30 miles one at a time, still wouldn't let any of them go.

The moral to this story is, quit lookin' at those cars and go somewhere else. I just hope they don't see the crusher in the end

    Derek

  29. I had an old guy give me an old Chevy coupe once. I heard he had some old cars so I went over and asked him about the coupe. He said it wasn't for sale.

I said OK and he wanted to know what I was going to do with it. So I told him.
he said take it. So I did.

Old asshole, I had to give a car to a kid just this year.

I hate people that won't sell stuff.

    intros mean squat to me.

see, thing is... would you want an asshole like GASH on this message board?

    i dont.

he showed us what kind of fag he can be if he doesnt get his way.

i dont care what kind of cool crap he has or how much he has to offer... bottom line is, he is a coward and a bully, we dont need that here.
