Ok, I have my car sprayed in 2k grey (see avatar). It is ***embled again and running like this because it is the look I want and I actually quite like the flat 2k grey colour. But needles to say, it really shows marks. What would help prevent this while retaining the same colour? I am by no means after a show winning finish, AS it is just a fun drag car built on a budget. Will spraying some rattle can laquer help?
I have the same issue. I was hoping some clear would not only seal it but also make it easier to take care of. Any ideas from the paint experts?
Buy clear that is compatible with your under coat, lacquer doesn't mix well with enamel for instance. Buy some flattener also. mix the clear up with the flattener pretty light to start with and spritz a junk panel. Now add flattener and spritz again and keep doing this until you get the desired affect. keep track of how much flattener you mix so you can duplicate the effect. This has been covered dozens of times on here. But it hasn't come up for awhile.
I've had problems in the past with the paint "chaulking" Mine ended up looking real bad after you wash the car. Porkn****** is right about making sure your undercoat and top coat are compatible. I think Hot Rod Flatz has the satin clear coat available. I'm not an expert just my $0.02
With 2K primer you should be able to top coat it with just about anything, you could try some rattle can on it. Here in the US, PCL offers a flat clear... http://www.pclautomotive.com/Product_Profile/flatClear.pdf
Go to your paint store and get the same color in Paint (not primer) and have them put 50% flatener in it...looks good and holds up well. I have it on my 48 1/2 ton. I got mine at O'rileys.
Boulderdash Primer is soft/porous, any dirty thing on your fingers is going to soak into it. Oart of why the paint sticks to it is that it can soak in a little. That is not the proper terminology but it will suffice for this diacussion. Any paint that you blow over it will seal it up. Paint in this discussion being top coat and not primer. if it is flat it will not wipe off as easily but you will still be able to clean it. If you don't mind shiney you can blow clear over it without changing the color noticably. A kid I went to high school with had a '56 cheby that ran around in red lead for ever. He decided that he liked the color so much that he just scuffed it and cleared over it, then he called it a custom color. By the way I like the color of your heap. I have a parts hauler that I am painting with ford tractor paint that is just a little darker than that. Rope seals if you break the word down it is easier to define. Ex-spert. Ex = has been Spert = a drip under pressure Expert is a has been drip under pressure.
i dont think rattlecan clear is gonna last to long.tried it on a kids bicycle frame and i went to **** pretty quick
Properly applied, any clearcoat should prevent the fingerprints from "staining" the finish and make them easier to clean off... A 2K clear will provide the best protection against the elements and most chemicals...
