OK, I know these are not as good, but it was my first attempt at a car, second quarter, at school. I couldn't work at home because my computer is too old for 3dsMax
Theres 2 main places on the net classic 3d car guys hang out, first is sm car forum, http://www.smcars.net/forums/finished-work/ yes theres new stuff there but some cool old stuff too. PALAT (also a member here) has been really instrumental in making blueprints of classic cars deviant art also has some, again you gotta fish through the modern stuff, I know some members from here post there too. http://browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/3d/?qh=§ion=&q=hot+rod+
These are some of the Best I have ever seen. How were they done? Any idea!! These were created by someone very very talented. Jimbo
Astounding renderings. But... what are they, exactly? Hand drawn? Airbrushed? Computer made? What exactly does 3D mean? (as they aren't the 3D I'm familiar with where you use special glasses to get the illusion of depth). Gary
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lscID05qdRE&feature=related there you go, I found a hotrod modelling tutorial which will give you an idea of how its done. its actually very..very....boring to do. so it requires great motivation and patience, can take months. in short, you start with a cube, bend and shape it in all dimentions into the shape of something, then you render, which calculates light and produces a photo real looking image. just like cgi in movies, same thing.
Hi everyone Don't know if this thread is still alive but anyway... I made some of the models (56 Ford, Bantam AF, Fleetline Chevy, Volvo and 61 Impala) that were so crisply rendered by Viztech. I have known them for some years now and did a number of car and boat models for them. I don't do engines, just cars. Here is some of my recent stuff, hope you enjoy as much as i do: All models are made 1/1 size out of correct general measurements, so i can switch tires and other parts if needed. It can be a tedious work sometimes but in the end of the day, when i make the renders it's really fun. It combines technical drawing and illustration and that's why it's so enticing (to me at least).
3D Stuff amazes me! My husband was trying to teach himself Blender, and I was intrigued, mostly so I could offer wheel designs as 3D models. Haven't had enough time to figure out the interface though. But an entire car.... man.... great stuff.
Well, you blew me away... renderosity.com is another place to find art like this. That's where I saw palat's work first.
