Can anybody who knows these ******'s tell me what is the flow direction of the cooling line as I'd like to install a cooling line fluid filter into my system. As we know there are 2 points on the top p***engers side of the ****** body where the cooling lines connect. From the attached pic can somebody indicate the direction of flow. For example top line IN and lower line OUT!!! Just want to be sure that the filter is installed in the correct direction without making too much of a mess...
Thankyou. Any preference to which line I should put the filter in??? I chose the line coming out of the ******, ***uming that the oil would be hotter and thinner so would p*** thru the filter easier
Inline ****** filter? Can't say I've ever heard of one before ... inline ****** cooler I definitely have. Not saying it's a bad idea, just that I didn't know anyone made them. If this is a new thing, check out the instructions.
Got this from Bowtie. I've installed a ****** oil pan drain kit and will also do the filter. Only thing I've found with Bowtie so far is that they give really great instructions on major items, but little or nothing with other minor stuff.
Any chance you can take the filter apart, there might be some kind of a relief valve that allows flow even when the filter is plugged. If there is a valve of some kind, it might help you determine the correct direction of flow. I am not suggesting you rip open the filter element itself, I am suggesting you might be able to take the body or case of the filter apart (***uming the filter is replaceable ... I can't picture this unit due to the fact that I have never seen one before).
****** filter is installed now under my F100 now, in the cooling line. It does not appear to come apart, all plastic. Looks just like a plastic in line fuel filter, a bit like what you would buy at a NAPA store. It has a black body with a a white flow direction arrow marked on the side .
I also installed an oil pan drain to the T700 ****** which can from Bowtie as well. Basically, it is a 1/2" bolt & nut with a smaller hole drilled and tapped thru the center. I decided to put the oil pan under my press and dippled the area where I intended to install the drain. It dropped the drain level down about a 1/4" or so and just allows a little more fluid to be taken when draining the ******. I also welded the 1/2" nut on the inside to the pan so it could not ever turn when opening the drain plug. Turned out kinder nice as a side line to installing one of those Bowtie EZ tele cable kits.
I've seen these, work well. Not sure if you need one but I'd install it AFTER the cooler, so there's no chance of pressure in it. (It dumps right into the pan) Saw a factory one recently -Chevy truck maybe Ford- had an inline filter with a check valve byp*** in it. Nice unit.
