Anyone have more pics of the narrowed black 32 tub that is on Pg 124 of the January Streetrodder? It was at teh LA Roadsters show. Looks pretty awesome, I wonder if they could get that picture any smaller?
they had a cooking article, on PARKING LOT hot dogs, It featured a world known WEST VIRGINIA "SWAP MEET CHEF" who had experience with FUNNEL CAKES, and CHEESE STICKS,, he had CONEY ISLAND circus freak show blood in his family tree...... he was an HILLBILLY. who played the flute when he got drunk.. They found out he had HEP C, and all the fags who ate his hot dogs at the drags got infected with the SO-CAL BLOOD disease...... you should go get a copy. So next year we can have CHILLI BEANS GERM
Very nice, I'm thinking that you could pick a different grille and have better overall look. My opinion, so that may not count. Frank
Frank I tend to agree. That is one bad ass car but I don't care for the grill either. The car does have an origanal look and that is hard to do these days. Looks like lots of nice detail too.
I'm not sure about the wheels, but they look close enough to 57 Lincoln with bullets. how about this idea for a grill, 59 Edsel.
those are Foose wheels, they are solid billet, and have a pin drive setup, but no pressure plate, and a cover over the knockoff. I love the concept on those wheels, he is doing something similar on a bunch of the cars he is building
I thought the grille was very handsome -- looked a like a Miller, or Art Chrisman's old #25 car. Might look more complete on a car with a full hood, though.
I was going to say the shell was from an old Deutz or Allis tractor, maybe an Oliver. It came off a green tractor......
Allis Chalmers tractor radiator shell...! I think that tractor companies shared the same out-source companies for certain parts and they may appear simular or be the same for that matter except for color and decals! Green = John Deere! Mark
Wow, nice shots! I think I have just enough of a '29 blind back to buildone of those...hmmm? I pleasantly observed in the profile shot the fine looking blond lady in the white shorts, gray top and no bra... ah ... And am curious about how deep into the tread those red and yellew stripes go? They can't be just painted on, that would mean this is the first time off the trailer for the car, (unless they changed the wheels for the show, at the show)
I feel venomous! The car is cool. I love chanelled '32s, even if they're not a real. Ford never made a 2 door phaeton. I think this is the new GOLD CHAIN. What's lame? What's cool? Late Model 7 digit California license plates painted to resemble early Black plates. Lame. Recessed plates and tubbed wheelwells on thin fendered "race cars". Lame. Every piece of the suspension except the wishbones are straight out of the catalogs, Speedway - Superbell - Pete&Jakes - Posies. Lame. Modifying the late Ford bones like that...Cool. Those wheels are uncool. They look good, and I think they'd look good on something, but not on that. Repro Arrow headlights from Speedway. Belong on a Manx, not on a roadster. Lame. Clear-red sparkplug wires (a pet peeve) and chrome generator cover. Chrome the generator casing if you are gonna spend mucho bucks like this owner obviously did. Lame. Hoodless "race car". Hoodless track nosed car. Put a hood on it. Lame. Looks like he used early Ford front hubs instead of the late ones. The insides of the drums are cut down very narrow. And, he cheaped out and used 90 fin drums on the back, different from the 45 fin drums up front. Mismatched and only partially engineered - Lame. Something looks odd about the DuVall windshield. It's obviously narrower than the ones being sold for Deuce bodies these days. Maybe it's a '31 that's been fit to the Deuce cowl. It looks GOOD! I DO like the flat firewall on a race car. Looks well done too. I think this will be unpopular, but Cool. A real nit-picky thing, but I see nuts all over it that don't fully engage the stud threads. In other words, the studs and bolts are too short. Lame. Stance? Really cool! Low roll bar? Cool. The smooth firewall, modern wheels, and smooth wheelwells and rear roll pan sugest a smoothie. The hinges look out of place. I'd like to see the interior and dash. So, all this from a loudmouth that still hasn't finished a car? Yes! I'm warming up for the next concours I have to judge. Rip me apart, I deserve it.
Hatch, If you find it in your driveway tomorrow morning let me know. I'll bring over an Oliver grille and we'll install it before we go to lunch. I think an Oliver grille would be an improvement but not the best for that car. I'm sorry but you can't improve on a '32 grille on a '32 car, phantom or not. Frank
The car looks great...I would love to see it in person...my thoughts may change, but I like the grill as pictured. I'll call ya and we can take it to lunch, the owner called and said I can have it if I don't change it......should I take him up on it???
No sign of those wheels on the Foose Wheels site, but I found these on the Boyd Coddington wheel site:
Hatch, Hell yes take it. Don't you remember when you were young if you had your fingers crossed when you made a promise it didn't count. Hold you hand behind your back, cross your fingers, look him right in the eye and say "I promise I won't change a thing if you give me the car". Then, hop in, fire that sucker up, come over to the shop. We'll put one of my "VIRGIN" '32 shells on and we're off to lunch. Sound like a plan? Frank
Thanks for all the pics from everyone. Even those ones from Miles I have to hook up 2 monitors to see 'beat, I will disagree with you on many of your points. Licens recess, wheels etc. I look at the car as a brave departure for a pro built car. There is nothing there that you could convince an average "chainer" that is cool. I do agree on the hood thing though. And I am sure from what you have said about your mod that it will rock beyond belief! No show us, you are as bad as I am
It was tuff shooting pics with all the poeple swarming around the car all day. First guy I have seen brave enough to run billit wheels and bias plys! Won't work with most combos. The wheels were custom made, I do not think you will find them on Foose's site.
i think its weird none of you people thinks this car is uncool because it is fiberglass Since fiberglass cars seem to be the devil around here.
I can't believe someone would build a car and not follow the rules. What was he thinking. How can you be different if you won't conform. Am I missing something here. Rules, we don't need no stinking rules in car building. He should have played it safe and restored it so the correct police wouldn't be on his case.
